As described and works well. Tested on LPG bottle with the smallest of flow, and indicated a big leak. Can recommend

I tested the unit with my lighter, as soon as I have received it. It works great at detecting the gas leak.Easy to use.

I bought this in May 2022 and used it occasionally for 16 months and it shows weak batteries. Replaced them and now it doesn’t turn on. This stuff must be garbage. To fail like this makes me suspicious.

This isn’t the lowest price I could get from Amazon, but reading the reviews and features that this leak detector has it seems worth it to me. Lower cost detectors don’t display the value of the gas ppm only indicating green/ yellow/ red which not enough for me and they don’t have a long gooseneck sensor. I want to be able to decide for myself what the amount of leaks acceptable or not and able to reach places that is hard to get. I tried it on a lighter and gas stove at varying level of gas amount, all worked. It gave me from low (green) to a high (red) indications. Other reviewers that tried it on a burning stove didn’t get any reading did not understand that the gas was already burned into a flame! That’s why the detector didn’t sense it. I did the same exact thing, when the flame was on the detector didn’t sense the gas. Note that there is a delay for the sensor to detect the gas and after the gas is gone about a few seconds depends on how much leakage is, which is normal for any detector, and this detector seems to have a very low delay compared to others (from reading their reviews). The detector is also easy to use, the temperature sensor is a bonus, I don’t really need it since I already have a more accurate thermometer with multiple different type of thermocouples.

A must tool for the HVAC Technician toolbox, to make sure that you do not have a gas leak in your gas furnace and gas package unit and also at the gas tank and gas meter. You can also check out inside your home to make sure you do not have a gas leak. A must tool for the price.

This gas sniffer seems to have the basic technology needed to measure the presence of combustible particles in the ambient space. However, the calibration of the one I received has to be questioned, because it measured the ambient temperature of the room as being at least 10 degrees higher than it actually was. Further it initially read the room temperature within a few degrees of actual but then consistently read much, much higher. Then, in several back to back tests it measured the PPM of combustibles in a closed space without gas appliances, pipes valves, as being anywhere between 20 PPM and 200 PPM in the same space only minutes apart. This particular device is not accurate.

I expected this to be a joke. It is exceedingly accurate.I would occasionally get a whiff of gas in my basement. I tried all the soapy water tests I could find and never found any leak. Then I got this. I took it down and found the 3 junctions in my basement that had tiny leaks. The connectors on the new Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing are very hard to test. The seals are about an inch deep in the connector so you can't see it to bubble test it. I not only identified which ones were leaking, but I could tell which side of a 1 inch nipple was leaking!I should have gotten this years ago. Working with black pipe and using soap is fine but this is still more accurate. If you are installing CSS Tubing, absolutely get one of these.

The detector works well and certainly indicates a gas leak (I tested it for that), but be sure to power the one you receive on first to ensure it's working properly, prior to giving it to someone else as a gift. The first one of these I received had a defective display screen (see the photo showing the display screen segments not all lighting up properly). Amazon quickly and painlessly replaced it (good), but it shouldn't have had that problem to begin with (will knock a star off for that). The price is certainly right for this, just make sure your's doesn't have a similar problem.
