Now, keyboards with hot-swap have become more and more popular, user can replace the switch freely. However, the thinner pins will be folded and bent if there is improper operation in the plugging and unplugging process, many players who like DIY expect to get upgrade switch with harder pin. To resolve this concern from players, GATERON release G Pro 3.0 in the year of 2023 including the upgrade pin.

For anyone starting a new hobby building keyboards, or even ones just looking for a new switch, these are awesome. To those that don’t have prior knowledge with switches, these are very similar to linear red switches, but deliver a much better sound with a little bit of a louder volume as well, but not anywhere near clicky switches. These have easily become some of my favorite switches, and for the price, you can’t go wrong! Gaterons are perfect switches for people getting started in the keyboard world, but to those getting started, just make sure that your pcb supports 5 pin switches, and your keyboard is hot swappable. With all that being said, I highly recommend these pro 3.0 switches, and I will definitely be looking into getting more of these switches. With such a vast market, with so many different switches, it can definitely be overwhelming. These are perfect starter switches to see what you like volume wise and to test the different variations. (I.e. linear, tactical, and clicky). Look no further than these, they’re worth every bit do your time!

I'll start off by saying that these exact switches can be had just about anywhere else for a lower price. However, for what they are, they are great. Yellows are tried and true linear switches, and most keyboard enthusiasts will agree. The pro series from Gateron is awesome, since they are pre-lubed. This saves quite a bit of time when building a keyboard, right around 3 hours for me! For that, I'd recommend these switches if you are looking to save some time and effort.

The Gateron Pro 3.0 Yellow switches are good, inexpensive linear switches that are usable out of the box. Here are the specs published on the Gateron web site, very similar to the previous version 2.0 switches:-- Stem: POM-- Top Housing: Polycarbonate, transparent-- Bottom Housing: Nylon, White-- Spring: Spring steel 15.4 mm-- Pins: 3-Pin-- Pre-lubed: Factory lubed-- Operation: 50±15 gf-- Pre-travel: 2.0±0.6 mm-- Total travel: 4.0mm-- Bottom out force: 67 gfThese Pro 3.0 Yellows are the 5-pin variety though Gateron does apparently have a 3-pin version as well. These switches do resemble the 2.0 switches, though according to Gateron the 3.0 have clearer light diffusion for back lighting and stronger pins.I'm a bit of a heavy typist and generally use Gateron Oil Kings (55gf activation) or Gateron Box Black Inks (60gf activation) in my daily driver keyboard. The Pro 3.0 Yellows are advertised to have a 50gf +/- 15gf activation force. The +/- 15gf variance is a rather wide tolerance – shared by my Box Black Inks – though the Oil Kings publish only a +/- 5gf variance. In practice this variance is really not noticeable.Gateron Pro 3.0 Yellows have a "normal" length stem pole and are not considered long pole switches. They have a full 4mm travel. In contrast, the Box Black Inks have a longer stem pole and a shorter 3.4mm travel distance.I installed the 3.0 switches in a keyboard alongside manually lubed Gateron Milky switches and stock 2.0 switches. Compared to lubed the Milky Yellows, both the Pro 3.0 and 2.0 switches have a lower, "thoccier" sound when installed on a polycarbonate plate. They are smooth like the Milky switches and are a good drop-in replacement if one is looking for a (slightly) deeper sound. In use I noticed no discernible sound nor feel difference between the 3.0 and 2.0 switches.Regarding the number of switches in a pack: I'm used to receiving Gateron switches in 35 packs with a 7x5 tray of switches. It seems Gateron has switched to 36 packs with a 9x4 tray layout. The stock Pro 3.0 Yellows are factory lubed. I opened up a few of them to verify and there is indeed lube on the stems and rails as well as in the bottom housing and inside the stem at the top of the spring. However, the amount applied is somewhat inconsistent and manual re-lubing may be required to achieve a consistent experience. But that said, lubing takes time and effort and I can attest that these are usable out of the box. They are smooth and exhibit no spring ping when installed. In use, the Pro 3.0 Yellows are noticeably lighter than the Oil Kings and Box Black Inks, as expected. However, they are not so light that I dislike using them. For me, they may wind up in a numpad rather than in my daily driver. The Pro 3.0 Yellow bottom housing has an open slot on the bottom surface and the top housing has a frosted diffuser that fits into this slot. This combination allows ample RGB backlight to shine through. Conversely, the Oil Kings have no cutout at all and actually block backlighting.Overall the Pro 3.0 Yellows are decent switches, especially at their relatively low retail price. They come usable out of the box, which is a bonus. They have a medium weight that should satisfy folks looking for something heavier than lighter weight switches like Gateron Reds and Silvers.

These worked great for my Keychron K10 Pro. I built my first mechnical keyboard and decided to mimic my old Corsair K70 with red switches. I found with my keycaps that I ended up having a lot of accidental keypresses. I then went to the other extreme with blacks, and found that after a few minutes I'd get fatigue in my fingers. The yellows seem to be a good middle ground and have been working perfectly for me since. I appreciate these came in a tray with all the stuff from Gateron instead of most vendors who simply throw them in a bag. All of them worked perfectly when tested in VIA. Was glad to find them here as I could not for the life of me find yellows anywhere that weren't on backorder - just slight markup, but worth it to get the project done.

For pre-lubed Gateron Pro yellows these work exactly as expected. A smooth actuating linear switch with a subtle sound and light feedback. I primarily use linear switches in all my keyboard builds, and more often than not they are Gateron yellows. The lube is applied generously and consistently across the switches I tested. If you're looking for a good quality, low noise, linear switch to put in your keyboard build, I'd highly recommend these switches.
