Of course, it's been over 100+ for the past 4 days, and this is when capacitors blow out! Well, 2 months ago, I purchased this capacitor as an insurance policy. Well, wouldn't you know it, last not I noticed the temp in my house was getting rapidly hotter! Looked at the thermostat and it was reading 79! Air handler was reading all kinds of error codes (Trane Tam9 unit) I was like WTF! Fan would work with put to run and not auto and zero cold air. Went outside and the unit was dead as a door knob. I hear it click once and nothing. So, I got out the capacitor I purchased, opened the unit (killed the power) and swapped it out. Buttoned unit back up, plugged in the power cut off bar back in, and the second I did the unit fired right up!! Had to hard power down the air handler and power it back up to clear the errors. But it worked like a charm. I ordered a new capacitor ASAP to have on hand in case the happens again. The whole job took be 10 minutes! The Local AC company would have charged between $400 and $600 to fix it. Also, don't cheap out! Get this capacitor, it's a very good quality part!!

My AC went out a few days ago. the outside unit will run but the house will not cool down. After some research on You tube I decided to replace the Capacitor, since the compressor wasn't coming on. search for the Capacitor model and Amazon was selling the exact same make and model, Waited a day to make sure I am ordering the right part and there is nothing better available, and the price went down to $5. Lucky me. Replaced the capacitor following all the instruction from the you tube folks (Capacitor need to be discharged) and it worked. Probably saved myself about $200-$300 service call. They would also try to sell a new unit for $15000. HVAC business is a complete scam, starting from the government to the service company. In most cases you have a buy a new system if you have a 10 years or older system.

Much cheaper than a retailer / store. Works as it should. Slightly narrower size so I had to adjust the strap. Never the less great value and item.

Common failure on HVAC system, so I keep one on the shelf. Average call in our area to replace is $300. I just do it myself.

My central air has been acting up for a week. Thursday it quit working. Went a couple of days not wanting to call a Tech. Did some research, and found the capacitor is a common thing to go out. So I ordered one. Amazon got it to me in 1.5 days. This Capcom capacitor is said to be a top of the line. Before, the fan wouldn't run, and to compressor was making weird noises. After I replaced the Capacitor, it started right up, and ran like new. Happy days! This Capcom should last, but I will buy an other just in case. Feel like I saved myself a bunch of money on a service call, and inflated price on the capacitor. FYI, I still had window units from the last time it went out, but then I had to replace a condenser that was installed in 1992.

Replaced a GE 97F9851 capacitor, needed a new mounting bracket due to it’s smaller diameter, works just fine.

Capacitor shipped in lighting speed and was at my door within 1 1/2 days of order. Packaged as advertised and works! My 2004 Lennox AC unit stopped working a few days ago. Given its age, i figured it was time to take it out to pasture and started planning for the inevitable replacement while visioning $$$$ disappearing from my wallet. I could hear a humming/surge type noise coming from the unit, compressor not kicking on and the fan was trying to startup but didn't have enough power to start. I was able to manually start the fan but compressor never fired up and house was not cooling. After a few YouTubes I grabbed a few tools and headed to the unit. A quick visual inspection later I saw that my old Capacitor was 'mushroomed' on the top of the canister. After playing Dr Google it began looking like my Capacitor might be bad. I figured I might as well try replacing the Capacitor before calling for a professional tech to come out.Easy to install, had it replaced and AC unit up and running again in less than 10 minutes. If you follow all safety precautions this is a very easy fix. I am still going to have an HVAC tech come out and am preparing for a replacement next year but in the meantime, my AC is back on and working.

For an American Standard Heritage 15. Although smaller in diameter than the original, it works perfectly. Little squeeze of the bracket and all is good.

I was scared at first as others said it was too small... But this was the perfect size and it works perfectly. Saved me hundred! Definitely will buy again!

My Trane home A/C stopped cooling recently.. I checked the condenser unit (XE 1100, from 2001), and the fan seemed to be having trouble starting, but even when it ran, there was no cooling at all. The pipe that exits to the house that's supposed to be cold was not even cool. Everything seemed to be OK to my untrained brain, although I couldn't really check the coolant. So, I gambled and ordered the capacitor, which wasn't very expensive, and was already removed for testing. The photo I added shows the original capacitor with wires, but disconnected from bracket (one screw)Replaced the capacitor, and it worked right off, smooth as silk. However, the capacitor's diameter was smaller by about 1/4 inch, and it was longer. The length was no problem, and I got some padding and a piece of bicycle tubing to go under the bracket to make it tight. That wasn't really much of a problem, and it probably would have been secure enough anyway, but I didn't want to take any chances.Note that this was an easy fix, but I have some old experience with electrical equipment, mainly electronics. But I understand electricity, and knew how to avoid getting shocked. There's 220 volts coming in, so if you aren't sure what you are doing, make sure you learn, and be careful. Use one hand at a time, and don't allow yourself to be contacting ground or the A/C chassis, and you'll probably be safe even if you accidentally touch the wrong thing. But best not to do that.
