I should have known when the description say high performance... part doesn't work on my 83 f150 the cable housing is too long so when you install you're already in D; I've begun trimming the plastic sheathing little by little and hopefully with a little super glue I can get P through D 2 and 1 will just be a bonus.

Took my whole dash apart just to realize when installing, the cable was seized to the cable housing. There's a thin plastic coating on the cable that had melted/glued itself to the plastic cable housing. I was able to break it free with excessive force, ruining the cable cable coating. Next, the piece that connects to gauges is different than the OEM one (coming out at a 45 vs 90, requiring cutting out of some the plastic gauge housing. Finally, when getting everything put back together there's a little piece that slides into the steering column to steady the mount - this was broken or missing. Hopefully the screw alone is enough.Now that it's finally all installed, it works "OK" - prob due to the cable covering gumming up in the housing. Doesn't always go back to P and wont go to 1 at all. Oh well..
