I use this as the first coat on refinishing mahogany solid body electric guitars and then use three coats of Arm-R-Seal semi-gloss as my top coat. Use clean 100% cotton t-shirt material to apply for excellent results.

The process to use this is a little time consuming but the finished result is worth it. I really like this stuff now that I've tried it. I pre-stain, then stain, then wipe this on using a small rag. I sand with 400, then wipe off dust with a wet rag, then dry rag, then add another layer. About 8 hours later, I repeat, using 600 grit, then again with steel wool. Some people use even higher grits before using the wool, adding more layers of varnish. Just depends on how glossy you want the final look to be. I'm a hobbyist, but I see why pros use this.

I personally don't like this finish. To me, it makes the wood look wet and doesn't pop the grain.

Best finishing option ever if you use nice hard wood and you want the natural beauty to shine though. This product makes the grain jump out and amour seal to to give it the finish you want. I have been using this combo for years now and have never been let down.
