The interlock bracket will allow only one main circuit breaker to be in the ON (I) position at any time. The bracket slides between the handle of the utility main circuit breaker and the handle of the generator supply main circuit breaker.
INTERLOCK OPERATION
Energize Panel from Generator (Utility Power Interruption)
1. Turn OFF (O) the circuit breaker marked "Utility".
2. Turn OFF (O) all branch circuit breakers.
3. Slide the interlock bracket up.
4. Turn ON (I) the circuit breaker marked "Standby".
5. Turn ON (I) the branch circuit breakers supplying essential circuits.
Installation of Retaining Bracket
Install the back-fed standby circuit breaker only in positions 2–4.
Interlock Hole Drilling Template
Turn the back side of the cover assembly, position the drill template provided along the top edge of the branch circuit breaker opening, drill three pilot holes for mounting the interlock bracket.
Installation of Interlock Bracket
Rotate the cover assembly back to the front side and position the interlock bracket over the three holes drilled.

Great kit to keep installs to code.Includes breaker hold down as well, instead of a zip tie like others. Be sure to get the one to fit your panel type.

I was looking for an Interlock Kit that met the new NEC code 408.36 which states that back-fed devices need additional fastener that requires other than a pull to release the device from the mounting means in the panel. This kit includes a nice heavy-duty bracket that secures the breaker to the panel's interior underneath the cover. The kit comes with everything you see in my photo except the 3/32-inch drill bit. I highly recommend center punching the holes before drilling so you don't deform the panel cover. Don't forget you drill it from the back side, not the face!My panel has the 200 amp main on the bottom so my kit has to be installed bottom left. If it's on the top it has to be top right. This kit fits both other panels in the Square-D line too.

Purchased from Worrior NUM. Lowest price that I found. Easy to install with simple instructions. works perfectly with SQUARE D panel Model #: HOM4080M200PC1AVP. You need a sharp quality drill bit to drill the three needed holes in the cover of the panel in order to install this interlock. Otherwise you will struggle.

I've installed Square D interlocks, Eaton interlocks, and Siemens. This is an off-brand SQ-D and I was very impressed with the quality.. for qualified individuals this install should not take you more than 10min..As easy as it is, this is not something for Johnny Homeowner to attempt on the weekend. Don't rush, and make sure the template is on the correct side :)

This is definitely a low-cost solution to an expensive transfer switch or separate generator panel. The installation instructions are clear, an accurate drilling template is provided and the install was easy for someone comfortable working inside a hot electrical panel, moving and installing circuit breakers and 240V AC wiring. NOT FOR THE AVERAGE HARRY HOMEOWNER!!This acts as a physical interlock blocking either the main breaker or a dedicated 50A generator back-feed breaker from both being on at the same time. Specifically designed for Square-D Homeline cabinets and will not work with QO series. Highly recommended if your application warrants it.

This seller offered the lowest price I could find on Amazon. Great seller, arrived on time, package was new and in Square D packaging.**If you have any doubts about doing the work yourself or the concepts involved, recommend you contact an electrician to do the installation to ensure you peace of mind and safety. Installation guide is included, however if you google the part number above there is a pdf of the process to install.**Great little manual device for cutting over from Utility power to external generator set. Do not have solar installed and was looking for a way to ensure we would have electricity in the event of power failure.MAKE SURE you are getting the proper kit for your installation. Its not the simplest thing to figure unless you have the boxes or numbers written down.It took about 1 hour to remove the cover, install the "retaining bracket", use the enclosed drill template, drill three holes (drill bits not provided), deburr the holes, install the generator interlock bracket to your panel, test function and energize.This kit was inexpensive, manufactured by Square D/Schneider and eliminates the need for manual/external switching. Pix demonstrate the key components and steps from installation guide. Guide is available by .Would recommend you understand all of the safety considerations about adding a backup generator, and follow all of the steps in the installation guide.

Got the kit for my Square D QO outdoor panel. Had to slightly bend the interlock plate due to the contour of the panel causing it to bind up when the bolts were tightened. Also had to trim the retaining plate due to it being too big allowing it to interfere with the breaker below(seen in another review)
