I recently installed this generator interlock kit and was impressed with the high quality packaging and materials of construction. The installation directions were clear and the self adhesive labels were high quality as well. I particularly liked the mounting fasteners which provide a secure connection yet allows for free movement of the slide mechanism. Compared to lesser cost alternatives (that I purchased and returned) this kit is worth the few extra bucks and provides much better quality and value.Pro tip - when drilling the holes, clamp the base plate to the electrical panel cover with a two vise grips so that the holes don’t “walk” while drilling.

I have installed a few of these. All have worked well. This is intended for an occasional portable generator use, with an external generator receptacle, where power failures are overall rare. Not appropriate for permanent generator installations. Please contact your local licensed electrician for appropriate equipment, instructions, and installation!

Only problem was I had to put washers under the plates to space it up in order for it to clear the main breaker.

If you have any electrical and diy experience this will be a 10 min tops install. I was very surprised how easy it was to install. Perfect fit! I was very reluctant to purchase but wanted to make sure if I want home to hook the portable generator up my wife couldn’t back feed grid power. It is a good Saftey precaution in my opinion. Well worth the purchase. Just make sure you order the correct one for your panel, there are many different panels. This kit even came with caution and basic instruction labeled stickers.
