I tried to use a knock off tailgate support cable to save money and it only lasted a few months. It rusted and snapped off again. I purchased this one and you can tell that it is of better quality, just like the factory original. It's been holding strong and I use my truck hard! I haul tons of firewood and construction materials and demo waste. Buy this one and you won't be disappointed!

As advertised, this is a genuine Honda Part in appropriate packaging. No issues with installing, since it is the same as the factory part that came with the truck. I wish Honda would make it stronger, or maybe a double cable, because of the dual functionality (opens like a tailgate or like a door) this tailgate only has the one cable on the drivers side supporting the entire weight/load on the tailgate when in tailgate mode. Most other trucks have a cable or strap on each side distributing the load to two supports. In this case the entire load has to be supported by just the one cable.

Much thiker coating then my last replacement which i purchased off of ebay and only lasted a year after rusting apart. Spend the money on honda parts, this should last a long time comparativly.
