I tend to be the tube/tire repair expert on my group rides, and thus, I have tried a lot of different inflators over the years. Stop looking. This is the one. Here's where other inflators go wrong:(1) They are entirely made out of metal. Often, you have to be holding the inflator to inflate. Either you have to hold the inflator to the valve itself, and then you have to prevent the whole thing from spinning as you lightly unscrew the CO2 cartridge. Or you have to hold the inflator as you turn some kind of lever or knob with your other hand. This is fine, but when the CO2 goes off, the whole thing gets so cold, and this often includes inflator itself. It is easy to slip a spare tube, glove, anything around the cartridge. It's less easy to also cover the inflator. This inflator avoids this problem by being plastic. You can inflate and hold the inflator, no problem. Also, the metal is often so slippery. This plastic surface is grippy and easy to keep a hold on.(2) They are overly complicated. You would think that having some kind of knob or lever would make the whole process easier. Looking at this thing from the outside as a novice: How does it work? Trust me, this method of screwing in the CO2 cartridge, then backing it off ever so slightly when you want to release the CO2 is by far the best method. It's just fool proof. The pressure coming out of the cartridge makes it so that air blows out of any tiny gap or tolerance available. Those knobs and levers? Perfect place to lose pressure. Plus, it is always hard to remember when you have cars flying by, which way to turn those knobs or levers to open and close. With this, it is just righty tighty, lefty loosey. Plus, that sealed-up system keeps pressure in the cartridge so well. I have had CO2 stay in the system for weeks. Try that with one of those CO2/pump combos? Good luck.(3) The cartridge is in line with the valve. This make things so hard. You have everything going in the same direction, so when you are unscrewing or screwing anything in, it is hard to keep everything stable. Or you end up unscrewing the valve core or something. This inflator avoids that problem by being perpendicular to the valve. You get leverage.Look, you should carry a pump too. (I recommend Silca's Tattico.) But when you have 20 people waiting on the side of the road for you. Ripping a quick CO2 is satisfying and quick for all. And if you use this one, you might actually get two uses out of a cartridge.

I bought this to replace the one I lost. Very effective and easy to carry. So much better than a hand pump. Once the CO2 cartridge is fully screwed in place, it seals well on the tire valve and will inflate the tire completely. You’ll likely expend the cartridge on one tire, or close to anyway. Being that they are so small, it is easy to lose while riding your bicycle. But in a race, this is so much better than a pump, and as stated takes so much less room. Great product!

I have a couple of screw on types, but they tend to freeze up with the valve core, and end up unscrew the valve core and loose all the air, this one is simple you just screw the cartridge in, and put the open end over the valve core and unscrew the cartridge slowly to release the co2!

Great addition for motorcycle riding. Compact and can easily add more air to tires on a road trip or add air if experiencing a flat tire. Have one in each bike. Highly recommended!

I was looking for a light CO2 unit with minimal levers and other bits that might break, but I hesitated getting this unit because I was worried it might be flimsy plastic. However, I purchased on recommendation of a friend. (He's an Ironman competitor, so I trust his experience). When I had in hand I realized my concerns were unfounded. The plastic is hard but not brittle, and there's a slight heft that gives es evidence to the metal underneath. It certainly is not flimsy. By chance, my little riding group had two flats on our next outing. The inflator worked perfectly for both. After installing new tube, screwed the unit all the way on the CO2 cartridge to break the seal, pressed onto the tire stem with one hand, untwisted the cartridge slightly to start the gas flow under perfect control, twisted tight again to stop the flow. With a little gas still in the cartridge, I put it back in my saddle back and continued the ride. Used the remaining gas on the second flat of the day. I cut an old tube to make little sleeves for the cartridges for comfort as the cartridge can cool below freezing when the gas is released. Unfortunately I lost it after one week! It worked so well that I had no reservations about purchasing a second. Highly recommended.

This works fine, but doesn't really replace having a pump.I got on a flat, fixed it, and inflated the tire with this cartridge. Problem was that the patch didn't hold and after a few minutes I needed to replace it. The new patch was fine, but this cartridge is only really go for one inflation, so I was out of luck without a pump.Using this is also awkward if you only want to put a little air into the tire to help you find the hole. It just wants to inflate the whole tube really fast and its hard to control how much air you put into it.
