ALTHOUGH THIS IS A SNARE STAND, I PURCHASED IT TO SUPPORT MY HANDPAN BECAUSE I HAVE DIFFICULTY SUPPORTING IT ON MY LAP AND REACHING THE FAR NOTES. THIS STAND SERVES THE PURPOSE VERY WELL. ALSO, MY RIGHT HAND IS SHORTER THAN MY LEFT. THE STAND IS VERY STABLE AND DOESN'T MOVE. IT IS EASILY ADJUSTABLE AND CONSTRUCTED VERY WELL. I AM GLAD THAT I DID NOT GO IN FOR THE OTHER MUCH CHEAPER ONES. THIS STAND IS SOLIDLY BUILT AND I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT EVEN AT THE HIGHER PRICE POINT BECAUSE IT WILL LAST FOR YEARS. THANK YOU GIBRALTER AND TO AMAZON FOR THE PROMPT DELIVERY.

Gibraltar is all around good quality bang for buck gear. Treated, transported and stored properly, this stand will last forever; after all, it’s a stand - you set it up, put a drum on it, and play it. Don’t need a cast iron stand for that.- Former drum salesman

Very solid and secure snare stand. It's actually a bit heavier than another stand I use for my practice pad, but that's OK since I use this Gibraltar stand for my snare and I don't plan to move it around much. I like this more solid stand for my snare, and the lighter stand for my practice pad.

When I got back into drumming a few years ago, I was appalled by how heavy-duty (and expensive) hardware has gotten these days. I really don't think that's necessary. Neither do I want to haul the excess weight. Come on, I gigged for years with no problems using hardware that would be considered subpar today. But when I shopped in music stores, I couldn't even find decent lightweight hardware. Everything I saw was either too heavy-duty or a toy.I was therefore pleased to find this lightweight snare stand from a reputable company for a decent low-ish price, and was even more pleased after it arrived. It really is lightweight, but doesn't give the impression of being flimsy. It seems pretty darn sturdy. Actually, it seems sturdier than some of the heavy-duty ones I tried. The basket grips the snare snugly while the stand is solid. It's what hardware ought to be, in my opinion.Given Gibraltar's reputation for quality, I can't imagine this stand breaking, but in fairness I need to wait a few years to find out. The real test of hardware is how well it holds up over time. I have no reason to suspect that there will be a problem down the road, just admitting that I haven't used the stand long enough to know for sure.

I have owned Gibraltar equipment since I started drumming. I find it a perfect compromise of price and quality. The quality of all my Gibraltar items is very good. And the price... again, very good. Along with Amazon service I get all 3. Price, quality and service. Tough to beat that.

I am using primarily for practice pads, and for that, it fits the bill.Compared to what comes packages with practice pads, its much better. Same for comparing this to the Compared to the Pearl (I think 8XX series) it has a better design and feels more sturdy. The plastic wing nut doesnt look to be ideal for lots of road use, but if this is going to be on a rather static set, it should be just fine. For sturdiness I only gave 4 stars, because I have not used it with a real snare yet. For practice pad use, it is perfectly sturdy.

A nice sturdy stand that works perfectly for a stationary kit. It isn't quite professional grade and may not survive years of road use but I am very pleased with it.

Bought it to use for a 10” snare for a club kit. I sit high and this stand just makes it and is sturdy as long as I’m only striking the head with a stick. A slight bump with a knee will topple it. Again this is because I’m maxing out the height which requires me to lessen the footprint of the stand. All around well made and sturdy construction and lightweight and perfect for its purpose.

Great stand. Wanted to take my rack toms off of the bass drum. Bought two of these to hold them. Perfect for this use and very sturdy.

I like just about everthing. Have a lighter stand which is not as rigid when playing. Use this stand for playing a Shime Daiko which is a snare drum dimension Taiko drum used to play backbeat and solos. This stand is easy to adjust and stays adjusted without slipping or moving. It's heavier than some but the trade off is more than worth the added weight. I think it is a great value for what it offers - very happy with thi purchase
