I strongly recommend NOT purchasing instruments via Amazon. Amazon and/or it’s intermediary storage and delivery services simply can’t handle proper coordination of fine instruments delivered carefully. It is partially my mistake for not expecting this instrument upon arrival. My excitement got the best of me and I did pay the price for it — a somewhat expensive Gitane guitar, clearly defective in its craftsmanship, is now unplayable and impossible to return. Less than 1 month later. The bridge has shifted, and only recently have I noticed the face of the wood under and around the bridge is significantly warped. Huge lesson learned.Be excited to play guitar. But control your excitement enough to wait for delivery regarding certain items. I would not use Amazon for instruments, and given Gitane’s reputation of late, look elsewhere to buy... possibly look into the Altamira brand for a more dependable, quality product.

If you've ever wanted a gypsy jazz guitar, you won't be disappointed. Nice sustain, full sound, I'm not an expert on this particular style, but I love it and this guitar!

The guitar was well made & sounded very good, the packaging was terrible! FedEx delivered the package with a nice dent in the cardboard package. The guitar was damaged in alignment with the package damage. The package consisted of a cheap cardboard outer shell with a few pieces of Styrofoam placed loosely around the guitar, The guitar was on a lightweight Styrofoam "cloth" and inside another plastic bag. That was it! The instrument was fine & I probably would have kept it but for the damage, I returned it. Buy with caution if you are having it shipped to you.

It said that the price was cut because of damage on the packaging, but there was actually a ding on the instrument. But it plays ok.

I received this guitar in good order but broke the high E during initial setup. I put new strings on, they tuned just fine, and I then enjoyed myself with this guitar for the next three weeks or so. Then one afternoon I picked it up and it was fretting out. So I lookeddown the neck and right at the neck joint ( 12th fret in this case ) the fretboard looked like a ski jump. It looked as if the neck jointhad slipped down. So I decided to do some research before attempting a truss rod adjustment. However before I got around toattempting the adjustment I noticed the soundboard had developed a crack about an inch to one side of the fret board not quiteextending into the radius of the D hole. At that point I packed the guitar up and sent it back to Amazon and they gave me my money back. Yes this guitar sounds and plays great. But a 600.00 ( 655.00 at the time ) guitar shouldn't warp or crack unless it's beingabused.

I've been performing for 40+years and I was skeptical about buying this (or any other)instrument online without first playing it. This guitar, the style of which I have been wanting for years, went beyond my expectations. Out of the box (well packed by the way) it was ready to play. Flawless frets and finish. Very nice tuners and the overall construction was worth every penny. This guitar has all the desired tone and bite from a Jazz Manouche instrument. I highly recommend this instrument for any guitarist wanting to play in the style of DJango Reinhardt and the other jazz greats of that era.One very surprising thing about the guitar is the weight. Surprisingly (and at first shockingly) light. Before I started playing I was afraid it would sound like a toy but no, it literally sings. Terrific sustain and mellow tones when needed. Highly recommended.

I have many fine instruments and the D500 now numbers among them. This in an excellent value for anyone who wants great sound and perfect neck action. I am able to duplicate the great gypsy jazz sound of Django Reinhardt and others. It arrived quickly and well packed and as soon as it was tuned the fun started. If you want a great jazz siund this is the guitar for you.

a beautiful guitar. I am learning gypsy jazz and my teacher, who is a jazz professional, is amazed at the quality of the sound. It is wonderful for playing all types of acoustic music, not just jazz. But when you play a Django song it really shines. I love this instrument!
