I'll be honest. I don't sew. I purchased these to hold down the corners of my Dungeons and Dragons maps. Sure, you could use just about anything to do the job, but it's really nice to have something heavy enough to do the job, but relatively flush with the table so people don't knock them around and transparent so they don't obscure any map features they might be covering.

These are standard glass weights for sewing. They look like the photos and work as described. You just...plop them down on your fabric/pattern and they hold it in place. Easy-peasy.They work well, certainly do their job, and look nice in general.I'm very happy to add these to my sewing kit.
