Works on every camera I have including vintage film cameras. Uncomplicated controls to adjust the flash strength. There's nothing I don't love about it

I received this Godox Lux Cadet Retro Flash through the Amazon Vine program, and as always, you're getting my honest, unbiased opinion. No one's paying me to write this review. As an avid photographer and videographer, I've amassed a collection of strobes, flashes, and monolights over the years. However, the Godox Lux Cadet caught my eye solely for its irresistible retro aesthetic. It seemed like the perfect complement to my Olympus EM5 Mk3 camera.Upon first impressions, the flash exudes the same charm and feel as an antique Olympus Flex Camera that I own. While not directly compatible, it would make a fantastic display piece alongside my vintage cameras. The flash is larger than I expected but surprisingly lightweight, striking a balance between substance and portability. It certainly doesn't feel like a cheap toy.The chrome accents are crisp and clean, while the faux-leather adds to the overall vintage vibe. The packaging includes the flash unit, a USB charging cable (yes, it's rechargeable!), a PC sync cable, a protective cloth pouch, a cleaning cloth, and the manual.Despite its retro appearance, this flash boasts modern functionalities. It offers a power range adjustable from full to 1/64 in one-stop increments, a built-in rechargeable battery, and both manual and auto modes. The rear dial includes a handy exposure calculator, making it suitable for both digital and film photography. However, I haven't tried it with a 35mm film camera, so I don't know if it's compatible. The diffuser is easily deployed with a sliding button on the side. The bulb is not well protected, so you need to be very careful with bumps and drops. There's a switch at the back for the optical control function, but it only works in manual mode, obviously, with S1 firing synchronously with the main flash and S2 serving as a secondary TTL flash. As someone who prefers manual control, I found the auto mode to be slightly underpowered. However, I suspect it's intentionally designed this way to maintain the vintage photo effect. Regardless, I had a blast shooting both indoors and outdoors with this flash. The battery lasted me an entire hour of shots, so I feel that the claimed 600-ish photos to be true.In conclusion, the Godox Lux Cadet is a fantastic retro flash for those seeking the aesthetics and effects of vintage photography. While it may not become a permanent fixture in my gear bag, I'll undoubtedly use it to capture artistic, nostalgic shots.
