Made in Germany, the sapele wood handle feels great in your hand with a smooth, balanced touch, and the large synthetic soft fleece head draws out beautiful tones on gongs effortlessly. Its proportional dimensions and weight give you an outstanding feel. This large-sized beater measures 15.55" long (total) with a 3.94" wide beater head, and the total beater weighs +/- 374g (13.19oz). Sold as a single, you can pair with other sizes to get big crescendos on gongs or play two gongs at once (other sizes sold separately). This gong beater fits a variety of settings where meditative gongs are typically played, from yoga studios, close meditation spaces or sound baths in large, wide-open rooms. This is my go to mallet for gong playing. I have both a 24 inch Venus gong and 32 inch Mars gong. I love the way this mallet brings tones out while I play, is light, and the handle is the perfect size to where the gong doesn’t get scratched. Highly recommended

I have the Meinl Sonic Energy mallets in the large size and they have quickly become my favorite mallets. The head is the perfect size for playing my 32"+ gongs. And the mallets are lightweight but perfectly balanced. I used these recently for a group gong puja and after playing, a number of folks in my group immediately purchased these for themselves. We are all seasoned players so that says a lot about these mallets. Oh and did you notice that they are black? That's a big bonus when playing traditional Chau gongs because they will soil your white mallets. In all... these are a real winner and I recommend them wholeheartedly.
