Absolute must if you replace your thermostat with a "Smart" thermostat. I have a heat pump with gas backup, without this board you can damage your pump. When gas is requested the pump has to shut off. Smart most thermostats don't control this. Very easy to install.

First set of 2 was broken and damaged (board cracked and foit missing), second set was clearly installed prior and were "dead" upon testing by hvac professional installer. Returned second set and was only provided a partial refund. Beware of seller. Another review states these are now obsolete for newer units so only buy if you need.

I bought this circuit board (and it is only a circuit board without any other hardware) to support an installation that is simultaneous propane gas and electric heat pump. The HVAC equipment in the project was Goodman Mfg.First of all, this dual fuel kit is pretty old. I found indications that its design goes back at least 10 years. In that time manufacturers of electronic thermostats have begun to offer deluxe models that can support what this PC board does.In particular, the Honeywell Vision Pro 8000 thermostat can handle dual fuel without the use of this kit. The Vision Pro 8000 (as well as other thermostats made by Honeywell and its competitors) have provisions for an external temp sensor that will determine when the system transitions from one fuel to the other.I should probably say here that any dual-fuel HVAC project is not for someone without HVAC training of some kind. While the internet offers a wealth of information on wiring up thermostats, there is relatively little information on the 'net to help you negotiate the complexities of a dual fuel job. Don't tackle one without competent assistance from someone that understands thermostat wiring in detail.

I received a faulty control board that showed some signs of previously been installed. I did not install the control board over the Winter as we travel till late Spring at which time I installed it, turned the power on and nothing. I'm a fully qualified Refrigeration Technician so using my Multi Meter I started to check the control circuit. It had no power from Terminal to Fuse. Yes, I checked the fuse as suggested by MRO the supplier. There is obvious an open circuit on the solid state part of the Board. MRO is not a pleasant Supplier to deal with. They spend more time trying to take you around the the system than making a customer happy. Don't take the chance.
