Installation Tips —

Bushings: We recommend a .340" diameter reamer to cut a clean, accurate counterbore for a professional job. Fit the press-fit tuner bushings correctly so your tuners will work smoothly.

Mounting screws: Pilot holes required. Installing delicate screws into hard wood requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend a No.44 bit for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.

These are tuners that are built good and can depend on keeping your strings in tune.

These are locking tuners! No mention of that in the description. Sent um back.

It was a little difficult to get the bushings to fit in my Epiphone Les Paul Standard but with a little shaving the hole they fitted. They seemed to keep the strings from going out of tune now. Very pleased.

Gotoh is typically super reliable, which is why many manufacturers and consumers go to them for hardware, but these tuners aren't worth the extra cost. I bought the relic nickel set of these from Stewmac, and I'm not going to keep them on the guitar. They look great. I love the way they look, but they aren't useful. The gears are jumpy, the knobs are wobbly. some are tight, some are loose. I double checked my peghead holes and bushings, and there's proper clearance. Maybe I'm just used to better tuners with 18:1 gearing, but these drop out of tune sitting on the stand five minutes after tuning up. I'll continue to use other Gotoh hardware, just not these tuners. Sorry, Gotoh. Vintage specs are awesome. Vintage condition, not so much.
