At the time, this 5-pack of water leak detectors by ‘GoveeLife’ is $70 (with a $20 off coupon). That’s $10 a sensor which is a great deal.To front load the negatives:The Amazon description notes which gateway these sensors work/don’t work with yet the only places it’s coming up online is on eBay. Otherwise you have to buy the gateway in a pack with more water sensors… I cannot find it separately anywhere. I realize they’re trying to force you into their eco-system, but it’d be nice to be able to use this with an existing smart home system as I don’t want more apps and more people stealing my data. I have a feeling these will pair with other RF/Wi-Fi bridge gateways, and am going to test this. The only other real con for me is that these are relatively thick and I can’t fit it under my washing machine for instance. It would be way too much work to try and get it in behind, especially considering I’ll have to change the battery eventually, so it’s going to end up in a sub-optimal location.Overall they are simple, sturdy, sensitive and loud.- Simple button press to turn on and double press to change the volume (not sure why you’d ever not want it at full volume though).- Seem quite durable and are water proof with sensors on top and bottom- Boast a 5-year battery life (only time will tell) but batteries come included- I can trigger just with water on my finger, so good sensitivityI’m not too worried about having active monitoring on my phone so the gateway isn’t a big deal, but recently having had a hot water tank leak, I wish I had these! Having a $10 sensor in high risk areas like around your dishwasher, washing machine, hot water tank, etc. could save you from a great deal of expensive water damage. As standalone sensors these seem like great quality.

I ordered these water detectors because I wanted a detector that was simple and had a long battery life. This GoveeLife water leak detector claims a 5 year battery life. That would be great for me. I plan on using at least 3 of them near hot water tanks in a triplex to get the attention of tenants if there is ever a leak. I will use another one in the laundry room. I appreciate that the batteries were included in the detector. The instructions are clear enough to explain operation of the devices. It is good to know that it is possible to connect the devices to a hub for remote alarm sensing. Unfortunately the instructions do not include steps for battery replacement. Doing that is is pretty simple. You must first remove the 4 white silicone cylinders that cover the 4 screws that hold the cover of the case in place. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws. then pry up with a 25 cent coin. I very much like that the alarm is very loud (wear hearing protection when testing!). With the current $20 coupon these devices are priced under $10 each, making them a great deal!

These water alarms work as you would hope them to. The slightest amount of water will set it off. It is really loud so there will be no fear of not hearing it. Hold the on button for three seconds to turn on and set it on the area of concern. I have one sitting on the basement floor in my utility room beside my hot water heater. I'm not really sure where I will put the other four. As for the battery lasting five years, that would be amazing but I'll have to let you know in five years whether that it actually true. For now I'm happy with this order and the peace of mind it brings.
