This is my first foray into using GPS directly in my own projects, and the VFAN GPS module made it pretty easy. I tested it first on my Windows PC; plugged in it immediately detected and setup a COM port, which allowed several different programs to read the NMEA stream and report my location—quite accurately. Next step, hooked up the TTL interface to a Waveshare ESP32-C3-LCD and got it dumping the raw NMEA stream to the LCD display. My next task is to use a library to read the NMEA data and actually extract coordinates (and time, as NTP would be really nice on embedded systems), but I have not gotten that far yet. The hardware itself is compact and well constructed. The chipset is U-blox G7020-KT, fairly common. As for support from VFAN, the included documentation says their website is vfanpower.com, but that is a dead url, and the only VFAN company website I can find (www.vfanlife.com) seems unrelated. So, basically the support for this product is what is on the Amazon product page—which is actually pretty good. However, I wouldn’t recommend this device if you’re not a little adventurous in your DIY projects, and certainly don’t build a product based on this thing if you can’t even contact the maker.

This is a fairly standard GNSS receiver but it's very lacking in documentation. As long as you don't need to know details and just want something that puts out NMEA data, it's fine.

After about 4 hours of trying various things, I decided it wasn't worth the trouble. The Support Website is non-existent (the website doesn't load), it doesn't identify in Windows, it wasn't coming in on my Raspberry Pi, and there's nowhere to turn to for assistance. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

This GPS module worked right out of the box on my older Windows 10 machine. It was immediately recognized, a COM port was allocated, and data started flowing. Using VisualGPSView, I got a reading, and even in my steel building (with the door open), it was able to acquire a lock on 6 to 10 satellites within a minute. I was impressed with its performance. One thing to note: there's a watch battery welded to the surface, likely for timekeeping. This means it has a limited shelf life unless you're comfortable with some soldering. Just something to keep in mind. Overall, I recommend it.

The model works well for my project which is using my Raspberry Pi. The antenna works good.

I’m fairly new to GPS modules, so I thought I’d try this out. What caught my eye is that you can easily connect this to a 3.3V microcontroller like the ESP32 or Raspberry Pi Pico (or Arduino if you use a 5V to 3.3V logic level shifter), or though at USB connection straight to a PC. I love that this module comes with all three connectors you could possibly need – a USB cable, and two TTL cables with either male or female dupont connectors on the other end. It just makes connecting it easy, no matter what your setup is.To test the module, I connected via USB connection to a PC, and ran u-center, as suggested on this sellers Amazon page. I was able to connect to u-center fairly easily, and I didn’t need to update the drivers or anything (like with some other GPS modules). It took a moment to connect, so I’m not sure why – like 20 seconds to see it on the serial port. I followed a generic u-center tutorial I found online, and was able to successfully poll this device for various GPS messages. For this quick test I was indoors, so I wasn’t getting a great GPS signal, so it took a bit of time to find my coordinates. However, once it did, not only did u-connect plot my location, but I entered the coordinates into a common online map service, and they were spot on! I blurred out my location on the screenshots, but you can get the idea of what u-connect shows. So I was able to verify that this device works, and can connect to u-center as advertised. I can’t wait to play with it more. 5 stars for being actually easy to connect, and able to receive a fairly weak indoor signal!

Not a lot to say here. It adds GPS receive capabilities to a Raspberry Pi system. It gets that job done, and it was easy to install. Beyond that, it's up to you to implement it into whatever your application is.

This was just the GPS module I was looking for. I like to make contacts over the amateur radio bands using FT8, and I needed to build a combo Wi-Fi router and NTP server for it. This would let me two laptops communicate with each other wirelessly while also providing a highly accurate clock when I was someplace without any Internet. That project was made possible entirely because of how flexible this module was made. One of the most useful features is that it comes with both serial and USB cables. The USB option lets you get started right away. I was able to plug this into a full-sized Raspberry Pi 4B+ right out of the box to get experience with how to install the NTP server software and get it talking with this module. The module uses a uBlox chip, a standard small GPS unit with a lot of software support. Very easily I was able to build a prototype wi-fi router/NTP server over the module's USB port.Once I knew my concept would work, I wanted to shrink things down to be as small as possible. That meant swapping out the RPi4 with a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W and using the serial connector to go direct into the GPIO. After running into a few issues with the setup, I finally got what I needed, and now this unit has worked incredibly reliable. I just plug it into a power bank and put it on my car dash, and I have a WiFi router to connect my laptops with a super-accurate NTP clock driven purely by GPS signals. If this unit hadn't had the USB option, it would have been a lot harder to prototype. Now that I've gotten this to work, I could imagine using an even smaller module with no USB, but that's only because I know what to do now. The way this is built, it's perfect for experimentation, it's worked great, and I'd recommend this to anyone with a GPS-related project.
