PUNCH UNIT-RD .812 BB (730BB)
From the Manufacturer
Greenlee round standard metal punch units are complete units consisting of punch, die and draw stud. They can punch quick clean holes through metal up to 10 gauge (check specs for specific punches). They can be used with battery-powered, hydraulic, ratchet or manual drivers. Properly assembled through pilot holes, they will make clean, fast and accurate holes. After cutting the slug falls free in the die, and a quick tip drops it out.

After receiving without a draw stud, I exchanged it and the second also did not include it. The description states "complete units consisting of punch, die and draw stud" and the picture shows it, but it does not seem to be included.

I used this punch to punch two holes into my brew pots, as well as a hole through a piece of test steel (metal outlet cover, ~18 ga.). The holes were punched cleanly, with no burrs or any need for filing. I used an adjustable wrench to turn the punch's bolt, and it was all done in less than 30 seconds.

This punch worked fantastic for cutting holes to install a HERMS coil in my HLT kettle. It cut through the stainless kettle with very little effort. No burrs to clean out. No worries about drilling too far with a step bit.It is definitely on the pricey side, but the right tools usually are.

Unfortunately, this product worked four times with some residence to threading. After the fourth punch, with no visible damage, it just won't thread. I can get the nut to thread about 1/8 the way up the screw. Greenlee said that I would have to pursue their one-year warranty policy through the distributor (Amazon), but I don't see the means to do that through the Amazon.com site.Too bad. Very expensive product to fail after four uses.

Great product, a bit pricey but well worth the ease of use. Used to punch holes in a stainless steel kettle for my craft beer setup.

I needed a way to get precise holes in a stainless steel pot. This Worked great, it punched a hole through my 20 gauge stainless with very little effort. I highly recommend this product, especially if you want a clean precise hole. I have used drill bits to do the same work and the holes produced are no where as nice as with the Greenlee Round Punch! I did not have a socket big enough to turn it, but using an adjustable wrench worked just as good. Super easy to use and operate. Highly recommend this to anyone who need to make precise holes in any type of metal.

Makes the PERFECT sized hole for 1/2" bulkheads on home brewing kettles. I used this to install a high flow el-barb from brewhardware and there is almost zero play even without the bulkhead screwed into the ball valve. The hole comes out perfectly clean, no need to file. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for (a completely clean hole without any dents or burrs). Make sure to oil the threads of this before you use it, and make sure your hole to thread this into is large enough so that the threads of the Greenlee don't bind due to not enough clearance.1. Center punch2. Oil, Pilot hole3. Oil, Step bit to 3/8"4. Screw in the 13/16 Greenlee and torque it with a ratchet or wrench, whatever you have. You will hear one punch 'pop and then another.5. Clean, and brew!

This punched through 18 gauge stainless steel like it was aluminum. Drill the pilot hole, thread it together, get a big wrench and start tightening, and in a minute, you'll hear a pop and it falls out. Clean, sharp, precise hole. Awesome.

I bought this to punch holes for my brewing kettles. I had bought it much earlier than I needed it and let it sit. It turns out it came out with threads that weren't quite right, so it wouldn't turn all the way through. Apparently this is a known problem with these punches, so hopefully they're being fixed and weeded out. Amazon was nice enough to replace it even after the 30 days had passed. My only real complaint with this is the price. I understand that many people don't use it for brewing equipment, but for only needing to make a few punches (and needing a few different sizes depending on what you're doing), it's a very expensive tool to keep around. It does cut metal like butter.
