This grommet fit my 1999 BMW 323i Convertible perfectly. Fair warning--you have to work to get it in there! I pushed and pushed to the point where I thought I was going to dent the body panel and then it suddenly snapped in. The grommet itself is high quality and very durable. I expect it will last at least a decade. Highly recommend for your BMW E36!

1998 328ic. Fit and finish are identical to the original. Happy with the product and installation.When pushing antenna base up through the newly installed grommet it's super easy to push to far. If you do this, like I did, just screw on the antenna all the way and then push down on the antenna while simultaneously pulling down on the base from inside the trunk. It will pop right into place and you can't push down farther than it's supposed to go with the antenna screwed on. Came out great!

Perfect OEM part! Wow—exactly what I needed. Easiest way to install was to drop old antenna base down into trunk side well and position grommet into hole in sheet metal and get situated. Then, I sprayed tip of antenna with a healthy amount of interior detailing solution and used that to help it pop into socket of antenna grommet. Super tight fit and very nice seal to make sure no water gets into trunk. Very happy.

Product was the right item for my car, '97 328i convertible. I had to replace this grommet when I went to replace my busted antenna, the old grommet disintegrated. This fit well, but was a little challenging to install, soapy water helps. The part I had trouble with was the last little bit to get it to really lock in, one side did not want to go all the way in. I used a 17mm deep 3/8" socket to put over top of the grommet and used a 6" 3/8" extension. This gave me enough concentrated force on the top of the grommet to pop it in fully.

It does not replicate the OEM leaving the top part of the antenna base unit exposed. Looks bad and I can only hope the lack of protection doesn't compromise the base unit.

Perfect fit. You have to push your antenna base up through the grommet from the trunk until the ball tip pops through. Use some lube to make it go through easier without breaking your antenna base which may be brittle from age.
