Gorgeous. Very precise. Only wish it had a groove to fit snare drum center beads...

Trick is king. I mistakenly ordered the black for a snare build I did. Turns out to be just the right "trick"!

I love how it works, its just a question of fit. You have to make sure your snare already has drilled holes that fit it. Otherwise there is a huge hassle of trying to find aftermarket parts in order to make this sucker fit. Or you have to drill your drum. I don't know about you, but I love tinkering as much as the next guy, but never would I try and mess with something like a 500 dollar snare made of bubinga or something. I ended up getting the retroplate, which is sold at dwsnare.com and is basically a guy making machined pieces of metal that fit a lot of different snares and allow you to use the trick throwoff on it. The only catch( I think this is pretty dumb) is that he sells the parts for the actual throwoff and the butt plate separately. So thats an extra 30 or 40 bucks just to get it to fit on a snare drum that you already have.I believe the spacing between the two screws that go into the throwoff portion is 1.5 inches vertical. It would have been nice if this selling outlet included information like that. I just went willy nilly, thinking I throw it on anything, and then when I got it realized the snare I wanted to use it on had horizontal holes. And I'm not looking to try and drill it any time soon. So onto the old '67 supraphonic it went with a retroplate. Works great, looks awesome.

This is the best throw-off I have ever used, but they need to make one that will fit a Ludwig Black Beauty (Hint,Hint) ASAP, pleeeeease! You can really feel the quality in these. They are really heavy and solid and make other throw-offs seem like they are made for toy drums. Trick is just a great company that knows quality.
