Attach to power a booster to trigger on off. The power wires are standard plugs, which can be extended by standard extension cables. Recommended for utility.

One buys this to control a booster fan, and with pigtails only 12" long you'd expect that you can mount it to the supply before the booster and it would be enough to trigger it, right? Wrong. It even says you can't mount if close to the booster in the instructions. Since the whole point of a booster is to add air flow to a branch that is too far from the blower, you're stuck with running extension cords to this switch.Let me first say yes, I know it needs power to trigger. Yes, I know it has to be pointed toward the source of the flow. Yes, I know it has to be mounted vertically.Since that won't work, I put it over on the next closest branch that I know has lots of air flow. No matter what I did, it would not trigger. I blew in the tube and it does trigger, even when it's a few inches from my face (blowing hard, but it works none-the-less).Alright, over to the supply plenum. Still on the other side of the basement from my blower but there's tons of air flow in there. Did it trigger? Nope. I tried upgrading the line to 3/8" poly, still didn't help. At this point I'm angry and just want it to work. It should work since I'm able to blow at it a few inches away and it triggers.I put it within a few inches of the air handler on the plenum. Did it trigger? Nope. How is it hundreds of CFM won't trigger it but I can blow at it and it triggers? Getting desperate, I drilled holes in the 3/8" poly hoping that would improve the amount of air getting to it. Still didn't work. Now I'm just p***ed and I'm grasping at straws. So I'm 3D printing a venturi as I write this. I need this to work. Running the booster 100% of the time isn't helping my electric bill.Even so, if it only works in the plenum, that's 80 feet across the basement from the booster. So I'm supposed to run a 100 foot extension cord across my basement or run NM-B and hard wire it?If I could give it 0 stars, I would because I spent at least two hours fooling around with this thing and it still doesn't work as intended. But I know it's not faulty because I can blow at it and it triggers. So it's beyond me why airflow right at the air handler isn't enough to trigger it. Junk, don't buy, find one that you know works.

Used this pressure switch to operate a duct booster fan to increase the airflow into a renovated space in an existing home. Easy to install and set up, plugs right in without effort, turns the booster fan on and off based on the presense of pressure/airflow from the air handler. Works great!

We got this to add a booster fan inline to increase the strength of our over the range microwave exhaust. The switch does function properly when you put it in a duct with higher blower pressure (think house air duct). It activates when the blower fan comes on and it senses the increase in pressure. Unfortunately, the microwave range hood did not produce sufficient air flow to trigger this switch, so it does not work for that. I did test it in other arrangements, and the switch itself works as described, just not for low pressure situations like with the microwave exhaust.

I needed something like this to turn an oil scent diffuser on and off when my AC was running. I have the diffuser piped into my output duct and this device detects airflow and turns the power on. It was fairly easy to install and works great. It can be used to power up a fan or other AC accessory but for a diffuser, it's a cool little device!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use the switch to power a UV light on my furnace. Before installing, I tried blowing on the end, and there was an audible click in the switch. Appling power, the light did switch while again blowing on the end. However, I was not able to find any (among several) spots within my duct work that had enough pressure to trigger the switch. Tried rotating the plastic end, removing it, and nothing worked.I have a standard 80% furnace with enough pressure to move air from the basement to the second story of my home. I would have thought this would be enough pressure to trigger the switch. Now I just have bunch of holes in my ducts. It seems well made and would last a long time, so your milage may vary. Just make sure you try it within your return window.
