I love Guterman thread to use for hand quilting. It's a little more expensive but worth it for the dependable quality.

I am making a quilt and decided to purchase this thread primarily based on internet research and also customer reviews. The thread arrived in good order. It's very sturdy for which I would give it 5 stars. I've been using it for several days and haven't had any trouble with breaking or fraying. However, once I'm sewing (by hand) it has a tendency to curl up on itself, to tangle, and to get knotted when I'm pulling the thread through the fabric. It slows down my sewing and leaves me frustrated. The solution for this is to buy beeswax for thread. When used it coats the thread making it more manageable.

WTF! I do not know why I waited this long to buy decent Quilting Thread! I use to buy the crap at local discount fabric stores, hand quilting thread. I have been hand quilting Hawaiian Quilts for years, spent a good deal of time untangling the knotted thread with much frustration. I tried this waxed thread and WOW what a difference! It didn't start curling, didn't tangle and I am now actually Loving to hand quilt all the time! Thank You

I use mostly Gutermann & Mettler threads for several reasons:- Produces far less lint than many other thread brands (especially Coats & Clark)- This cotton quilting thread is smooth, and does not twist and curl when hand-sewing as I have experienced with others.- Does not have much breakage as I have experienced with other brands.- Wax finish helps thread to glide smoothly through layers of fabric & quilt batting more easily than other brands I have experienced.- Nice 40wt, slightly heavier/thicker than the average 50wt cotton thread from Gutermann.Really love using this thread when I do hand quilting (which is often).
