I bought this to make snack sticks. It didn't come with a small (3/8) nozzle so I bought one separately from smoke House Chef. I made two batches of snack stick and on the second batch the gears stripped out. I think it would have worked ok for larger sausage stuffing but the small dimeter nozzles take too much force.Update 2/16/24: I contacted customer support and they sent me a new gear for $16 with free shipping. Even though this is made in China, they have good US based customer support!I then modified the stuffer with a hydraulic jack (8 ton, double ram). Now it works great for snack sticks with a 3/8 nozzle. I started with replacing the had crank assembly with the jack but couldn't find a return spring that would pull the platen back out. I put the gear box back in and added the jack to the end of the ram and it works good. I can use the hand crank to pull the platen back out.

Started sausage making with a much cheaper stuffer knowing that I'd sacrifice some quality but wanting to test the waters. The difference between these two stuffers is like night and day. The cheapo had very noticeable seams that made thorough cleaning more difficult. One of those eventually failed which brought me o this significant upgrade. The finish on this thing is very clean. The sturdiness and heft of each component makes it feel like it'll last forever. I like that the stuffing tubes are secured with a retaining ring rather than a semi-threaded approach, feels less likely that the tube will cone loose or simply wear out.It operates very smoothly and I like having the two different speed options. Had a vertical stuffer before and there's a bit of a learning curve with the horizontal, make sure you clamp it down. All total very happy!

I bought this after seeing the vertical version on one of my favorite YouTube channels. I wanted the horizontal version so there was less waste in the tube.It is so well made I don't even have to clamp it down to stuff sausage. My old vertical with the pinion drive was a struggle every time I used it. Now I look forward to the task of putting my meat in a tube.

I purchased the 7lbs horizontal Hakka stuffer after using the KitchenAid stuffer twice, and should have done it after the first use. The stuffer is very easy to use and much much quicker/easier than an auger style device, which is prone to feed tube issues and can easily overheat the forcemeat. If, like me, you are here because of issues with the KitchenAid stuffer, just do it, you will not regret it.

I had the Hakka vertical 3L and returned it. I always had more than 1/2 lb of meat left over. I even tried chasing the meat with a cup of fresh cooked rice, which worked OK but the rice is difficult to clean and you have to make it and yu have to cool it. Not a solution. Not a problem if you are making 20lbs of sausage but I usually make 2lbs and 1/2 lb waste is not acceptable.The horizontal lacks the 90 degree bend, essentially a sink trap for ground meat, and evacuates essentially all of the contents. I did chase it with a little left over rice and cleared the filling tube and achieved 0% waste.I found the horizontal layout easier to fix to the counter top. One fatal flaw that the handle is only on one side so you are limited to how you can place this on a counter. The handle has to hang over the edge and the filler has to be on the left side of the unit with a right hand crank. May be a problem for a left handed person but not a problem to use solo. That's why I can only rate 3 stars for convenience. Hakka, make it dual sided like the verticals!A really well made unit that I expect to have for many years.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this stuffer. This was my first attempt and re-creating my Grandpa's old Kielbasa recipe so I didn't want to spend hundreds on a stuffer. The quality and fit of the pieces are outstanding for something this inexpensive. Sausage didn't leak around the gaskets and the machine functioned better than I expected. You can't go wrong and I would expect the larger machines they make to be just as good. The kielbasa turned out great. Since I had no glitches, next up is some venison summer sausage using the same machine.
