I have used the old countertop models of vacuum sealers in the past and pretty much gave up due to the inconvenience and lost counter space. These handheld models with the re-useable bags are fantastic. You just put your food in, attach the vacuum, and turn it on until it stops. You do have to pay attention during the sealing process. Based on my experience, here are some tips for success:- Avoid placing the food right against the vacuum port. It will block the port and you won't be able to remove the air. I push the food aside and try to grasp the port and lift a bit so that there is air behind it. Sometimes, it helps to hold the valve at an angle so that it doesn't pull the food in and block the port.- This device is not intended for soft/fluffy breads or cakes that need air in them. That said, you can still vacuum seal them. You just need to pay close attention so that you remove the vacuum (pull it off) as soon as the excess air is out of the bag. If you wait too long, the vacuum will suck all of the air out of your cakes/breads.- This device also is more suited for solid type foods without a lot of juice. If you put something with a lot of sauce or juice in the bag, the liquid can be pulled into the vacuum device. Again, if you hold the valve up and pay close attention, you could still seal this type of food by immediately pulling the vacuum off as soon as the air is expelled. I personally avoid using this type of device for those items and just put them in a container designed to hold liquids.- I hand-wash my bags for reuse. I just toss them in the dishwater when I am doing the other hand-washed dishes (no sharp instruments in the water). I let them soak for a bit and then swish a dish brush (mine is round) around the inside and corners. I also run the brush around the edges of the vacuum valve to remove any liquid that may have settled in the seams.Overall, I really like this device and as long as I use it for the proper types of foods, it is an excellent product. Five stars.

It works, but doesn't seem overly powerful. It also came apart when I dropped on the counter, but I was able to put it back together and it still works. It also doesn't have a charge indicator light, so you don't know if it's charging or fully charged.I bought it for using on glass vacuum containers and my Foodsaver's handheld piece isn't soft enough to seal off the hole to allow for removing the air. However, the rubber gasket fits into my Foodsaver, enabling me to use it on the containers using either sealer, which is really what I wanted. The FS containers aren't glass and they crack after not too long, so I wanted a glass solution for this and now I have one.
