Good die. I used it to re-thread the end of an early Mustang ball joint. The ball joint is hardened and this tap did the job well.

Die worked perfectly right out of the package. I had a stripped bolt that required new threads and this piece cut them quickly and very cleanly. I only regret not ordering it sooner.

I have to admit, after reading other reviews and knowing the price, I wasn't expecting this to handle the abuse of cleaning up wheel studs on a truck. Especially considering I was using an impact to speed up the process. Well, it handled it well and fixed all the studs. My old lug nuts were factory originals and beat up bad. This is worth buying and I'm glad I did.

used this to clean the threads for my 2004 dodge ram... lug nets were shot, hard to get off due to damaged threads.. this cleaned thme up and I was good to go.. nice product. also, if you are going to use a socket to turn this you will need one bigger than 1"1/8 that was my largest and it didn't fit so I used a pipe wrench

While high carbon steel isn't my first choice for threadmaking, it does work well on lower carbon steels and non-ferrous metals. If you have a lot of threading to do and don't have a lathe, HSS is your best bet. The main reason I bought this die was to use as a thread chaser, and it works perfectly for that task.
