The little brass bearing at those opposite end from the motor is what goes bad on these. But, to clean and lube,the whole fan must be removed. Now I have 2 fans withe cleaned and lubed bearings ready to replace the 2 fans I recently purchased ( niw also with properly lubed fan bushings.
