I noticed there was a little bearing play in the current clutch on my 1970 GTO 400. So, after some reading on the forums, I decided to go with not only a replacement but also an "upgrade" with this severe duty rated clutch. After waiting out a heat wave, this morning was finally a perfect cool time for a test drive. I noticed that once the car was up to temp (160 thermostat), that the temp kept climbing. It topped out between 190-200 and would not come down even at speed. Shutting down the car had it spike to 220. Luckily, I had not thrown out the original clutch so I quickly swapped it back in. I took the car for another ride and it instantly returned to a high temp of 160 and stayed there even at idle in the driveway. So, this clutch is either designed poorly or I got a defective one. Either way, it's headed back to Amazon.

On my 94 fleetwood coronado, with a 454 chevy big block on a p30 chassis it was a perfect fit, well what the mechanic said. the new part was smaller and weighed less but the biggest surprise was when i got on the interstate ,,,,THE ROAR OF THE FAN was crazy. my coolant temp would always be around 230 240 around traffic and would get tooooo close to the RED SIDE. NOW AFTER A MONTH, it has never gone above half way, my thermostat is a 180 degree high flow from napa, yes i recommend the fan clutch

This keeps my 81 El Camino with a 350 swap decently cool. This is a great fan clutch if you pretty much want to guarantee that your classic car or truck won't get over 220. My El Camino would overheat in traffic to at least 225F but now it doesn't get over 210 degrees. I will be doing more work to the truck to keep it even cooler -- but this clutch locks it up almost 1 to 1 when it gets hot and pulls the temperature right down. It does have some fan howl when it's engaged but it's well worth the cool engine temps. If it fails or doesn't do the job when it gets really hot this summer I will post an edit/update. But I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.UPDATE 1: I did some more work on the small block and advanced the timing, engine never even sees 210F. When really trying to rev hard up a hill the fan keeps the revs down, which kind of spoils the fun, but it is a price I am willing to pay to have a cool truck. Still 5 stars!UPDATE 2: It's October now, and my experience affirms what others have said and what I have said before: It just works. My truck does not get hot anymore. There was a point where it got hot but that was my doing. For some context, I was going up a mountain pass on a hot day at about 70-75MPH and at the top of the mountain (about 3 miles later) I was at 220F. At highway speeds such as that the fan has nothing to do with cooling your vehicle. I should have downshifted out of high gear but I didn't. So the engine got a little warm, no big deal. I love this fan clutch. It works any time your fan can cool an engine. Do not hesitate to buy it. You will not regret it.

After looking online to research my overheating issues on our 34ft 454 powered motor home, I decided to replace the fan clutch, looking online the best replacement part I could find was the Hayden fan clutch, the best price I could find was on Amazon. Our motor home has always ran hot since we purchased it used, and we also pull a 24ft enclosed trailer with a sand rail, rzr, 4 wheeler and stuff which is a self inflicted issue. After installing the Hayden fan clutch the motor home did not get over 200 degrees, where as before it would run up just under the red, and I would have to pull over and let it cool down constantly. Now even pulling a steep grade in first gear it keeps cool!!! Great part, great price. Thanks, Tocs
