This fit my scag liberty z 48in zero turn mower. I like how the key fits in it's groove. It keeps dust from getting in the key hole. Easy fix

I am generally pretty handy but do not enjoy working on cars or small engines. My SCAG riding mower developed an intermittent problem that caused the ignition switch to stop functioning when the key was turned. Usually, blowing the keyhole out with compressed air and / or using a paperclip to remove accumulated airborne debris (grass, dust, etc.) solved the problem, but one day the switch stopped working at all and no amount of cleaning would fix it. From past experience I knew that if in fact the ignition switch needed to be replaced at a shop in my area, the diagnosis, parts and labor would be $300 - $500. Instead I watched 4 or 5 relevant YouTube videos on diagnosing and replacing the ignition switch myself, which gave me the confidence that I could do it without making matters worse. I purchased this HD replacement switch on Amazon even though it was a few dollars more than the OEM model because it had significantly more reviews and the overall rating was higher. The included keys also have a "umbrella" shroud that reduces the likelihood of airborne debris entering the keyhole. Following the advice in the You Tube videos I replaced the switch myself in about 15 minutes. It was extremely easy. The fix worked perfectly and the mower now starts every time and much easier than with the worn out OEM switch it replaced. If you think (or know) you need new ignition switch, watch some You Tube videos and do it yourself with this HD switch. It's easy and costs about one tenth the price of a mower shop doing it for you. Highly recommended.

I installed this in my scag freedom z, but it was a snug fit. For a moment, I thought I would have to modify the hole it snaps into, but was finally able to pop it in. I do like the keys, they have a dust cover built in to keep some of the dirt and debris out of the ignition. It's about the same price as the standard scag replacement, but the keys are nicer on this unit and you get a small carabiner.

This switch is an exact replacement for the OEM switch on my Scag Freedom-Z mower. Quality appears equal to the original switch. Easy to install, just remove the 4 screws from the control panel, lift it up, unplug the electrical connector from the switch, pop out of the mounting hole, insert the new switch, plug it into the connector and reattach the control panel. About a 5 - 10 minute job.
