ARC Audio Return Channel

Audio Return Channel (ARC) eliminates the need for additional composite audio cables or optical cables when connecting an audio/video (A/V) receiver or surround sound system to a TV. ARC enables audio to be sent from the TV to the A/V receiver, allowing you to watch and listen to movies and other content from the source device.

What is the difference between HDMI ARC interface and others?

Transmission method: HDMI is only used for video transmission, while HDMI ARC can provide high-quality audio transmission. ARC technology does not require any new cables, it can be implemented on any compatible HDMI.

Connection method: HDMI cannot feed audio back to the origin, while HDMI ARC can work like a two-way audio transmitter cable, HDMI ARC is designed to provide audio return for TV speakers and other devices. They can easily configure the sound bar system available in your home.

Note: HDMI is a cable, while ARC is a port or adapter. Both technologies require an HDMI cable. The design of the HDMI ARC port is different. Now, most HDMI cables support ARC. "High-speed" printed HDMI cables generally support ARC function, if the HDMI port is marked as "ARC", then we can identify it. If we connect a non-arc HDMI cable in the ARC port, it can act as a general HDMI.

My use case. I had a nice stereo hooked up to my tv, but the remote could not be paired. The tv was cheap and while the image quality is passable, the spound was flat and lacked fidelity/range. The stereo remote was incredibly clunky and all I needed was volume control.Install took less than 1 min. Hdmi ARC to the box and the box optical to the sound system. My tv automatically recognized the change in sound output and adjusted accordingly, so ymmv. I had to turn the volume up to an acceptable amount at the stereo to make the volume match on the stereo (was originally too quiet)Outcome. With no impact to audio quality/ fidelity I now have the ability to control volume with my TV. Added bonus, at least for me, is that the lowest possible volume before mute on my stereo was actually quite loud. Now that i can control it both from tv AND the stereo, i can can get it quite a bit quieter before it cuts out.
