I purchased this to house a new collection of sample slides that my children have been collecting. The package arrived quickly and packaged decently for safe transport. The first thing I noticed was that the product photos make this appear to be leather or a thicker plastic. This is a very thin plastic case. Not a thin nylon type plastic that bends, but the brittle cheap plastic that easily breaks. It feels very cheap. With minor UV exposure and some basic exposure to the elements (which will occur in time) this case will not last very long. I highly recommend getting a wood or leather covered case for better longterm storage and protection of your precious slide/specimen samples.I also did not like that the bottom and top of the case are not clearly identified with defined and noticeable markings. It does say "Bottom" on one side but it is barely noticeable. Anyone handling this for the first time will most likely not notice and open it upside down, possibly dumping all your glass slide samples everywhere and possibly breaking them. During the first few days of my kids and I using this, we accidentally dropped slides out of it several times until we slapped a large "THIS SIDE UP" and "DO NOT OPEN IF YOU SEE THIS" sticker on each side. For a very basic or beginners collection box, this will temporarily suffice ...but again, I recommend a better quality wooden or leather bound sample box.I would not recommend this to others.

Very sturdy and durable. Great value for your money. This is perfect for students that are needing to store their slides for the professor to look at, working histologists needing a place to store personal slides that they cut for Immuno/Specials stains, or someone just needing extra slides holders.Definitely worth the purchase, and recommend for any and all lab personnel!

Good box where the slides fit and not like the poorly assembled wooden boxes where most slides will not fit; Yes, the wood looks much nicer, but you will end up throwing the wooden box in the trash because of poor construction - variations in width and length; also sometimes the box itself is ill fitting & crooked

My only complaint about this product is that the slides are not as snug as I'd like, they kind of jiggle and don't sit up straight. But, for the price it really is great. I like that they stack on top of each other nicely and the labels are neat. It's a great economical choice for storing slide samples - especially when you have a ton of them.

I used this to keep the slides that I have made myself. It has a cork-based bottom to protect the slides. It also has a place to write a description for each slide.I like the slide container a lot, but it is made from plastic with inexpensive hinges. For the price it is just fine. I keep it on my lab bench. I wouldn't want to carry it around in my bag because I think it would break eventually. So if you need a slide container to keep on your desk or shelf this should work just fine.

Nicely made. Some thoughtful design touches such as, its moulding has been designed for stackability if you buy several, and there is a recess for a sticky label to describe the contents.

I don't usually carry around 100 slides, but when I do, I use this.It has a big metal latch and strong hinges, and the box itself appears durable enough. I have no expectation that this case will afford glass slides much protection if dropped, but they are organized and portable. What more do you want? It definitely beats using those smaller slide boxes (which generally need a rubber band to hold them together). The cork lining is a nice touch, but I doubt the experience is any different from the foam lined version.

Other reviewers complain about the quality of this slide box, but what do you expect for the cost? These are sturdy enough, and if you go through a lot of slides like I do, you don't want to spend a fortune storing them. I'd love to buy a cabinet, and I see that Fisher has reduced the price on theirs a little ($323), but for the time being these slide boxes work just fine. Fisher's cheapest slide box which is completely made of plastic and crappy at that, is $14 and change. This slide box is so much better for the price.

The product does what it's supposed to, and it is nicely made. It is, of course, plastic, but it's not extremely cheap plastic or anything. It's fairly sturdy, and the hinges on the latch seem to be strong enough to last a while. The bottom is lined with cork, which is a nice feature as well. What I liked most though is this; the spaces are the right size to fit single slides or two slides per slot. This is good because some specimens are easier to prepare by placing two slides together instead of a cover slip or smear (like blood, plant fibers, or algae). It's also good if you're using it to store slides, because it means in can hold twice as many. I will undoubtedly buy more for my lab.
