The description does not say one way or the other but these are open flow. -1 star for unclear advertising. The locking ring is a tight fit to get it fully locked on some valve stems but even if it doesn't slide down completely it looks like it will grip well enough to stay put. They are solid chucks.

These air chicks are open allowing air to flow until it’s connected to the tire valve stem. Air from the compressor will be lost or air from other tires will be lost if trying to use these on a 4 tire inflation/deflation system. Will be returning and ordering closed style locking air chucks. They’re not bad or poorly made they just aren’t what I was expecting and the description doesn’t specify open or closed.

I bought these air chucks because it was less expensive than similar chucks tgat i already have.Unike my other chucks these are very difficult to lock onto tire valves. Looking at the lock mechanism it appears that one of the three locking claws is too long which prevents the locking collar from locking in place.I had this problem with the first two chucks in the box. At this point it was clear that I would be returning them so I did not test the other two.
