Your cart is empty.Alodine 1201, a registered trademark of Henkel Surface Technologies, is a chemical treatment process for aluminum used to provide corrosion protection and as a surface preparation for paint and adhesives. Sometimes called “aluminum passivation,” it contains hexavalent chromium and is intended to provide corrosion prevention even when left unpainted. Chromate conversion is an excellent treatment method to prep aluminum prior to paint or adhesives since it greatly enhances the ability of an organic coating to form a bond with the aluminum substrate. Being a surface conversion treatment rather than a coating, it will not alter the dimensions of the part.

Do yourself a favor and buy the metal prep they sell. Heat both to 100f and it works better than any chemical conversion coating that I’ve outsourced.Great paint base.

For treating aluminum parts -- makes a thin coating on aluminum to prevent corrosion. It's what's used on airplane parts.

Used on aluminum outdrive gimbal housing piece after sandblasting. Perfectly coated piece to ready for primer and. Wanted the longest lasting paint job. Just like building a house, it must start with a good foundation! Would buy again and highly recommend!

Well, yeah, you get a priming coat, if you soak it immersed for several hours. Brush-on is totally inadequate. And given that, I seriously doubt that it will provide the overall coverage advertised.

Used this to treat my mast and boom after stripping got two coats on the 12ft boom and one good coat on the 40 foot mast with one bottle. Works like a charm.Update: six months later and it is still doing its job. No apparent oxidation to the raw metal. The supplied picture was just taken.
