“As long as you keep those treats coming, I’ll do whatever you ask” is what comes to your dog’s mind as you keep shoving goodies down his throat and name it training. Don’t get comfortable because the moment you put those treats away, he/she will stop listening to you. You need a voice, and our Herm Sprenger collar is here to give you one.

This pinch collars consists of a center plate, assembly chain, 2 O-rings, swivel and equally aligned prongs.

The prongs are made of blunt points so that they work harmlessly without pain. The center plate guarantees an equal pressure along the collar and the whole dog’s neck. The swivel rotates in all directions as a result ensures the highest flexibility between the collar and the leash.

The 16 inches /41 cm length is for dog necks up to 14 inches/ 36 cm and can be adjusted in both size and look by adding/removing links and using nylon material.

How do I measure the neck size of my dog?

  • Please put a measuring tape closely to the fur right behind the ears and under the jaw.
  • Mind that two fingers should slip between the collar and the dog's neck. Or you can measure his neck and add two inches.
  • When the collar is on his neck it should allow you to slide two fingers under the collar and your dog's neck.
  • If there's extra room, you need a smaller size and you should remove links. If both fingers don't fit, the collar is too small and some links should be added.

By having a stainless steel coating, this collar is less likely to rust. The stainless steel has the capability to renew itself after scratches or cuts or exposure to high humidities, making it the most reliable rust-proof material as compared to others.

Note:
Stainless steel collar can be used
for both light and dark furred canines. But if your dog is allergic to nickel, then you’d better choose a curogan collar.

Unfortunately I will not be using this at all. It is nearly impossible to remove this from his neck. If there was a dog attack, he would die in this contraption or it would become twisted and poke his eyes out. I have slight arthritis in my hands and find it impossible to take it off even under good conditions. It was a mistake for me to purchase this.

When fit properly, this collar is an excellent training aid for dogs. Be sure to use the right size collar and fit it properly for your dog. The collar should sit under the jaw and ride just behind the dog's ears. If the collar is too loose, it will be less effective in correcting the dog. Use the smallest recommended link size gives you more adjustment options and provides more points of contact on your dog's neck. Our 9 month old border collie/husky responds very well to training with this collar. He knows it's time to train or go on a walk when we put the collar on and he's ready to listen. The collar is a great tool to get your dog to focus and follow directions. We like the continuous loop design of this collar better than the quick-release style because there is less risk of the collar popping off by itself. This type of collar should only be used when walking or training with a leash. It should not be worn when the dog is off-leash or is playing because of the potential choking hazard inherent with this type of collar. The stainless steel collar is a little more expensive, but links stay clean and do not discolor your dog's fur like plated-metal collars do. Our dog has white fur around his neck, so we chose the stainless steel option.

The product works great and does not leave any gray marks from the prongs themselves, but the chain does leave gray on the top of the neck. My presumption is that the chain is not stainless. As I said, much better than the non-stainless collar, but not perfect.

Beautiful color! This time I got what I ordered. First time I got a chrome covered collar. This time I got stainless steel. The stainless steel will keep my white dog's neck from turning gray. I've always trusted Herm sprenger! They've always made the highest quality horse bits, chains, and collars!

Does what it's intended to do. Don't buy prong collars if you don't know what you're doing or how to used them properly.
