The one I received was rough and mechanicals loose. I knew it was a very budget vise when I bought it but this one turned out to be just a little too imprecise for my needs.

Perfect for holding small parts. Very sturdy and well made.

Gee, I hate to see people compare this product to a vise that costs 10 times more. This is a mass-produced vise that may be expected to have a few quality-control issues, but in general, it does the job just fine. If it were a $500 vise, I'd give it one star. But for my needs, it's a five-star vise. The finish is black paint, and I wish they had not painted the screw threads. But it turns smoothly, stays square, and grips small parts very tightly. I used it to hang-on to a small piece of steel that I could not safely hold in my hand. I drilled two 1/8" holes and the vise did a great job. I like it.

To say it's rough is being nice. However, it is a very nice casting and a morning spent on the surface gringer now has it smooth and square. Some hand fitting on the moving parts and I now have a very nice little vice for only $25. If you have the equipment to fix it I would say go ahead and get it. You are basically getting a cast kit to finish yourself and for cheap.

I bought this for holding small cylindrical objects in a vertical position for drilling on the end. I couldn't get a good hold on the object as it would shift out of the centering groove. I'm guessing that the groove was too small to properly index the object. Moving part of the vise has quite a bit of slop and tends to twist. Paint was peeling on the vise as I removed it from the box. As for design, there is no easy way to mount or clamp this vise on the drill press table.

Muy bien, sólo hace falta lijar algunas partes ligeramente, se puede mejorar la precision pero yo uso para sujetar cosas pequeñas para lijar principalmente, no se afloja sola con la vibración.

I have had one of these for years that I got from my long passed father in law. It is extremely handy for a variety of uses. Does not take up much space, but heavy enough to hold your work pieces. If I need a lot of directed light, turn this on its side and attach a bar flashlight that has a magnetic base. Great combination. I use this as a third hand for all kinds of work. I purchased this second unit for travel where I often do a assembly work on electronic PCB's. Stable and strong. A typical 4" drill press vice is simply too large for these various uses.

It was OK for a while and then the movable casting cracked off where the drive screw goes into the hole. See photo. It was only used as a device to hold parts when I was assembling, basically used as a third hand. I guess if you want it to last more than 60 days you need to spend more.

You get what you pay for. This is an inexpensive vice but it you go over it with a file and square up the sides that don’t sit flat, and fix the moveable vice jaw retaining screws with thread locker, give the main lead screw a good oiling, it should be good to go.

I bought this vice to modify it for a dedicated specific light cut machining application. You do get what you pay for. But at this price, the quality was better than expected. For light use, this vice has worked fine. I think used strictly as a drill press vice it would serve the hobbyist quite well. If your application is high precision or need more rigidity, then I would recommend one of the higher quality (and far more expensive) brands.
