**Product Description: Fire Piston with Aircraft Grade Aluminum, Gentle Handle, and Hickory Encasement — Proudly Made in the U.S.A.**

Experience fire starting like never before with our meticulously crafted Fire Piston, a fusion of American craftsmanship and innovative design. Each fire piston is proudly made in the U.S.A., setting a new standard for gentleness and efficiency in fire starting.

**Aircraft Grade Aluminum 6061-T6:**
At the heart of our Fire Piston is aircraft grade aluminum, precisely constructed from 6061-T6. This aluminum alloy is celebrated for its exceptional corrosion resistance and impeccable finish. It's a material trusted in demanding aerospace applications, rivets, and heavy-duty truck frames. With our fire piston, you can count on the strength and durability of this premium material.

**Ergonomic Handle for a Pain-Free Experience:**
We understand that traditional fire pistons can be tough on your hands. That's why we've designed our fire piston with an ergonomic handle, ensuring a comfortable grip that won't leave your hand aching. No need to brace against a hard surface or apply excessive force. Our gentle handle makes fire starting effortless and pain-free.

**Hickory Wood Encasement:**
Surrounding the aluminum core of our fire piston is Hickory wood, one of the toughest and densest hardwoods native to North America. Hickory has a legacy that spans centuries, having been used for the most demanding applications, from wagon wheel spokes to tool handles. This wood not only enhances the fire piston's aesthetics but also adds a robust, time-honored core to its design.

**Effortless Ignition:**
With our fire piston, igniting fires becomes a seamless process. Rapid compression of air inside the cylinder causes the interior temperature to soar to 500°F, more than enough to ignite the char cloth in the piston's face. The ember can be easily transferred to your kindling nest, and with a little fanning or blowing, you'll have a roaring flame.

**A Timeless Companion Made in the U.S.A.:**
Our Fire Piston is an essential tool for outdoor enthusiasts, campers, and adventurers. It combines American innovation with the art of fire starting. Each fire piston is a testament to American craftsmanship and ingenuity.

Discover the perfect balance of gentleness, efficiency, and strength in fire starting. With our Fire Piston, you'll ignite fires with confidence, knowing that it's crafted with care and precision right here in the U.S.A.

Works great and comes with high quality O-rings.

It works well with the char cloth it came with. Works even better with my own I made. That and a new o-ring. The one it shipped with on it had a nick in it and would not build pressure well enough. It's better than average, but I don't think it quite reaches 5-star status.

This is a quality little piece of hardware, if you know what it is and how it works, then you know why you are hopefully never going to need one LOL If you do though, there is no replacing it. Quality build, tough construction, comes with instructions and a little bit of char cloth to try it out. I highly recommend this, whomever is making these is putting time and effort into them and it shows. Thank you!

It's fairly basal as well as heavy duty, have only been able to get the burn cloth to get warm and smoke once for very little time. Only complaint would be the lack of a container or string setup to keep the important pieces together.

It took a little practice, but the piston came with great instructions. It works great and comes with extra o rings and a small supply of char cloth so you can try it out right away. Also comes with instructions for how to make more char cloth. It only takes a small bit of cloth, so what is provided will last quite a while. The wood is beautiful and We are very happy with this campfire piston.

Now I need some vaseline for the o-ring. I put it on the piston and now it's pretty difficult to get it off ^^. The vaseline will increase the o-ring's lifespan and make for smoother action. So far as I see, it is a very well made product and should work fine so long as you follow the provided instructions/youtube video demonstration (/know what you're doing). It is very thoughtful and nice that the piston comes with some fire-starting material and additional o-rings, so I don't have to buy more for a long while (maybe ever, given how often 99.99% of us will use this thing). The instructions also detail the making of your own charcloth (consult youtube for that as well, but it's pretty straight forward and explained well in said instructions). It would just be perfect if a tiny amount of vaseline was included in the baggie (in a transparent pill or something similar), so I could pour it into the bag with the o-rings when I get to it, and coat them and keep them lubricated in that bag, so the new toy is ready for play the moment it arrives (not sure how long vaseline will keep its properties and not dry out). I'm sure most of us buying this are either survival-nuts (guilty), and or outdoor-beautiful-nature-nuts (read: humans are terrible. I love long walks in the rain, and stars. We are so tiny and insignificant, and so hostile to each other. I just want to breathe in a lung-full of clean air and enjoy a long peaceful moment whilst not getting eaten alive. I also like feeling self sufficient and prefer not to spend my life staring at my phone with headphones in my ears.)A welcome addition to my fire-starting toolkit.

I have successfully started a fire with this fire piston in my kitchen, but I have removed it from my emergency kit because I have never gotten it to work in the 'wild.' I don't doubt that it could work if you spent a few months learning it's quirks (it seems extremely sensitive to char cloth and I haven't figured out why yet) it's also difficult to get the tinder to stay in the pocket and to figure out how much should be used. Also, it's difficult to dislodge the ember into your fire nest before it burns up. If you're thinking of using this as part of your emergency kit, don't. Use a ferroceramic lighter, some char cloth and a small tube for blowing. This will start a fire under poor conditions in seconds. If you are into exploring primitive skills and equipment from around the world, definitely get a fire piston and play with it a lot. They are fun!
