I like to have a splitter anywhere a long hose hooks up, so that I can still get water from the tap without having to go find the end of the hose. It's hand for when I just need to rinse a hand off, or fill a buck. This is a nice piece of hardware, with extra long handles that are easier for kids to move around. No complaints!

Living in Southern California near the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains has its perks, but the tough water conditions and relentless sun create their own set of challenges, especially when it comes to maintaining hoses and irrigation systems. Over the years, I've gone through countless connectors, accessories, and hoses, all damaged by the hard water and intense UV exposure. However, I’m happy to say that the DINGBAI Hose Splitter has been a breath of fresh air, offering the durability and functionality I’ve been seeking. What immediately stood out about this splitter was its thoughtful design. Unlike most hose splitters, which place the output spigots parallel to the inputs, this one arranges them in a V pattern. This clever arrangement provides much-needed space between the two spigots, allowing for easy connection of multiple timers or other irrigation equipment without them crowding each other. This is a small detail, but it makes a big difference when you're trying to manage a complex irrigation setup. In addition to its practical design, the DINGBAI splitter is built to last. The heavy-duty brass construction means it’s much more resistant to the wear and tear of outdoor conditions than plastic splitters. Given my experience with hard water, I know how quickly plastic parts can deteriorate, so having something made of brass is a welcome relief. The material feels solid and substantial, giving me confidence that it will stand the test of time. The valves on this splitter are also noteworthy. The larger-than-average levers make it easy to operate, even with wet or muddy hands. The ball valves themselves are high-quality, with a 90° stop that is 100% effective in preventing leaks. In my experience, having this level of precision in a valve adds significant value, as it ensures that water won’t drip out when you don’t want it to. While you do pay a bit more for this level of quality, it’s definitely worth it, especially when you’re looking for something that will last longer and handle the demands of your outdoor setup.Overall, I’ve been impressed with the DINGBAI Hose Splitter. Its durable brass construction, smart design, and reliable ball valves make it a solid choice for anyone dealing with tough water conditions or frequent outdoor watering tasks. If you're tired of dealing with flimsy plastic splitters, this one is a great investment that offers long-term durability and ease of use.

I have several faucet Ys which I have found very useful, but the older kinds with those little black levers can really become hard to turn, especially for anyone whose hands are aging. I saw this and immediately decided to try it in place of the Y I use that most which often requires adjustment of the water going to the right or left hose. I use my splitter attached to a timer between it and the faucet to control the water to front lawn with hoses each going to an oscillating sprinkler, and have to adjust the two hoses differently to fit the different sized areas they are supposed to cover Of course, cleaning the Y inside with a short soak in a little vinegar and water and scrubbing with a not too hard brush can help remove hard water deposits, but it is nice if you can go ahead and use the splitter right then when you need to, and clean later. This is SO much better! The size of the lever is so much easier just to grasp and then requires less pressure to open and shut the valve due to increased leverage. And it is every bit as well built as described. It comes with 4 washers besides the 3 already in the splitter and the 2 short hose pieces. The length of those pieces is 5.75 inches tip to tip, but the green hose part of the piece is just 4.75 inches, in case you need to know about how far it will extend something from the main faucet. Iput it on the faucet, then my timer. Those springs on the hose pieces are VERY strong too, more so than any I have had in the past. I am not a weak woman, but am getting older- I had to apply some strength to curve those hose pieces due to the strength of the springs so I know they will a great help in preventing damage to hoses near where they attach to the the faucet or hose bib if the hose has to go off from the faucet at an angle and may get crimped. They also included 2 little tops for the levers- they say they include these things because their Y will last so long- it will indeed have to last a long time to require using all these parts. It is also convenient that they included a little spool of white plumber's tape, which is made to wrap around threading to help create a watertight barrier, helps prevent leaks and makes the part easy to remove when necessary. Being silicone, it is safe for use with drinking water. In case you are not familiar with this tape, it should be wrapped clockwise, in the same direction that the pipe's thread will be turned to tighten it into the fitting- if you go the wrong direction or otherwise wrap it incorrectly, it can bunch up or twist, making it hard to attach the connecting pieces- pull it off and start over. Start on the second thread to avoid cross threading and tape ending up inside the pipe.Wrap tightly, Keeping the tape stretched tight and apply it firmly against the threads. Overlap each wrap by about half a turn. Wrap three to four times but don't wrap past the end of the fitting and into the pipe. It only takes a minute or 2 to do this, and I think it is worth it. I have used it before.I put a washer with a screen in it between the main faucet and my timer, then attach the Y and then the hoses and sprinkler, that way everything is protected from possible particulates in the water getting into the mechanisms. It works as well as any installed system and is easily moved. If you live where the water is hard and get a lot of deposit build-up, there is also Plumber's Grease which is silicone-based so it won't dissolve in water and it is thick and gooey enough that it will stay where it is put and is used for lubricating and sealing and to prevent corrosion on faucets and their parts- since it is compatible with rubber and plastics, nontoxic, nonhazardous, and can withstand a range of temperatures. It's often used to lubricate faucet cartridges and O rings, which can help extend the life of the seals and rings and make the fixtures work more smoothly. (Don't try using things like vaseline, oils, or WD40 instead). I am thinking this is a worthwhile, rather inexpensive way to protect these more expensive valves, protecting connections from corrosion and me from future effort and aggravation. So I think I will be switching over to parts like this Y as the older ones I have fail.
