They are handmade, with all the perfection and minor defects as such.As advertised, they are the right size for paper plates of stated size.The unfortunate part of each, is the center of the holder where the larger strips meet.The center point is higher that the rest and act as a pivot point, where the plate can spin or tilt to one side or other.They are not used as often as I had hoped, as they were to replace other less well made holders.

I took a chance and ordered more of these from a different vendor because the old one wasn't on Amazon anymore. They are just as sturdy and high quality as the ones I use all the time! I have guests coming for an extended stay so had so add more or I wouldn't have needed to order more. These things are surprisingly strong.I don't usually need to wash them, but have hand washed quickly a couple of times when I made a mess on them. Their coating kept the water out. They lost their bowed bottoms after repeated use.I wish I had started using this particular type of hold decades ago rather than the tacky, unstable kind I used to have to replace constantly! They are well worth the price!AFTER A YEAR. Still like new! Excellent quality,

These woven bamboo plate holders are sturdy. A bit expensive but I believe they will last.

It all started a long time ago when I was a wee little child—now, armed with a childhood memory, I set out on a grand adventure—the likes of which no one had attempted before. I would scour the Amazon jungle to find a high-quality paper plate holder that no one had seen in decades, like the ones I had growing up—woven tight, not flimsy, built like a brick house, unlike the modern species of platicus-flimsipicus holders, an all-around higher quality of, without all the genetic tampering that has happened over the decades.I soon found that in this day and age, you have to pay to relive dreams to get a better-quality item. But most of the time, those dreams you paid for end up in broken dreams and eight-foot-tall linebackers chasing you out of their wife's room in the middle of the night after a bing-drinking marathon at the local watering hole. When all you were trying to do was wallow on those super soft pillows, well, in my defense, I thought they were pillows.Hurmm, anyway, I saw these rare platicus-flimsipicuse holders and thought they looked just like the ones from my childhood dream, only darker. This is to be expected since I found them in the Amazon and not Anaheim, California. They were almost exactly like the ones in my childhood memories. What could I do? I'd give them a try.Now, my nightmare truly began.First, the plate holder is made of a desiccated cactus painted brown and only sold in a mated pair! Sure, they looked to be a better weave than cheaper alternatives glimpsed in passing and seen through the giant leaves lining the Amazon River's banks. They are heavy-duty, sturdy, and have an excellent stain to make them look nice. All around, they are beautiful, just like the bright gold color on the Golden Poison Dart Frog. Or the subtle, sensuous makeup of a Black Widow murderer. All cleverly designed to hide a plethora of splinters pointing in all directions. Backward, forwards, splinters on top of splinters pointing backward, and as the barbed poison darts from the man-eating tribes of natives found deep in the uncharted parts of the Amazon. Where human heads are sold in Marketplaces!Like all nice things, beautiful women, sleek sports cars, majestic planes, and mysterious boats, they have a wild and darker side. Deadly to the fingers and the palms of human hands, but they look good doing it!From the mouths of the wise men of the man-eating tribes of natives found deep in the uncharted parts of the Amazon, "Your heads fit our baskets for Marketplace!"

I have had sets of less expensive bamboo paper plate holders over the years. They were never very strong and always started to break, unravel & eventually fall apart. I did not want to spend $ on replacements that were going to do the same. These are the best bamboo plate holders I have ever seen. They are very well made, sturdy and the bamboo seems to be covered with some sort of protective coating. The price seems a little high but it is almost justified by the top notch quality.
