The grate flips up on each end to allow you to add more charcoal or wood without having to remove the grate with the food on it. It is a life saver! Some Weber Grills come with this. I bought a more basic model and for the low price of this grate, you can't afford not to have it. It is an absolute must for low and slow smoking on your Weber Grill!

I have the Weber Jumbo Joe that's used for camping. Why this isn't the grill that comes with it??? The hinged grate makes adding charcoal & wood chips, and adjusting the coals soooo much easier.

The standard grate suffices for grilling meats such as steak or chicken over coals. However, I do a lot of indirect cooking/smoking of ribs, pork shoulders/butts and other cuts. This accessory makes it super easy to add briquets or wood chunks to the side with the fire, especially when smoking for several hours

I have been using Weber grills for over 40 years .Someone I met was moving and could not take their 18 in grill with them so they gave it to me. The grate was rusted because they didn't keep it clean and didn't use it much so I got this one to replace it. I love that you can just raise the ends up to add charcoal if you're doing a long indirect heat cook.

I purchased this Weber grill grate for my old smokey grill. It fits perfectly and it's easy to add wood chunks or wood chips as I'm smoking meat.

This is a really cool product. I dinged it 1 star because the hinges have to always be aligned manually after raising them in order for them to lay flat. Not a big deal but I should be able to raise and lower them without having to adjust them. It worth it just so I can add charcoal and wood without removing the entire grate.
