I live in a city with high bike theft, and after making some upgrades to my daily driver, I decided also to upgrade my security setup from the ubiquitous u-lock/cable combo to this chain lock plus hexlox to protect my wheels/seat post/saddle/fork (pricey but highly recommended!).This lock is legit. It allows me to lock to so many more things my u-lock couldn’t get around, and I barely notice the weight dispersed around my waist. Wrapped higher off the ground and with as little sag as possible, I know that no one is getting through this thing. And no need to carry a backpack for my locks or have them clanking around on my handlebar (never liked using a frame mount, don’t @ me).Of note, I’m a size 30 waist in men’s pants and I have to cinch the strap just about as tight as it can go.Otherwise truly no negatives I can point to. This is a high-quality product that is a joy to use and with my new setup gives me such peace of mind. Worth it? 100%.

I bought this as it’s a requirement of my bike insurance to have a gold standard lock. I didn’t want to carry one around on the bike or in a bag so the fact that you can wear this one is a great selling point. It’s heavy and robust and I think it would be very difficult for a thief to get past.

Worth it. Can wrap around bike frame of bike in addition to wearing lock.

I use this chain when I leave my bicycle alone for an extended period of time. I like that you can wrap it around your waist; easily accomplished. I also like the reflective material. Sometimes I'll throw it over my shoulder and under the opposite arm. You need to make sure to cinch it snuggly around your waist or when you stand to peddle, it will try to slide down your waist. The only thing I wish is that it had been just a few inches longer. It's not long enough to wrap the chain around the frame if you place the bike in a bike rack at the front tire.

This bike lock is amazing, it’s a huge heavy secure lock that can take a beating. But at the same time I can’t even tell I’m wearing it while I’m on my bike, standing is the only time I feel it. I wish they had a better way to secure the excess strap but I just rolled mine up and pinned it against the chain and that works great, even with the belt on the smallest setting and a ton of left over strap. You need the key in the padlock in order to lock or unlock it which is required in any high security lock so that’s normal. I just love this lock, especially since it doubles as a reflective safety belt, I definitely recommend this lock. Any other chain lock either needs to be in a bag or on Your bike, this thing just can’t be beat!

Exactly as advertised...strong and secure, yet can be worn while riding. If someone wants to cut or grind the Links..have fun, it will not be easy. I have confidence this will provide the optimum security for your bike. We have two Rad Rovers and use these religiously.

Pros: looks heavy duty, maybe it could become a deterrence to bike thieves. It's heavy yet surprisingly comfortable to carry.Cons: Not very convenient to lock and unlock. The reflective paint is slowly peeling off.

Aside from a slight pang of buyer's remorse (only because the chain is SO hefty and SO short compared with what we were used to), this lock meets or exceeds all of our expectations, particularly when it comes to build quality and resistance to theft. No way is anybody getting it off the bike once locked. On the other hand, the (petite) person who has to wear it while riding always mutter, "Ugh!" when she has to put it on.As for the effectiveness of the reflective fabric (shown in white)? Bright as blazes, even from a distance, especially in car headlights or under a setting sun... exactly when a cyclist needs to stand out. I'm only withholding the 5th star as a warning to prospective purchasers who may be contemplating a different (non-Gold) model which affords them a bit more length -- trust me, finding a suitable hitching post that this chain can wrap around is NOT easy! -- or wish to reconsider whether their beater bike is worth investing quite this much.If we had to do it over again, we'd back off one notch and go with one of its longer, leaner brethren.
