How important is this service?
If your vehicle is equipped with a variable valve timing system, it needs to operate as designed for proper performance and fuel efficiency.
If your vehicle is throwing a Check Engine Light CEL for codes 2A87, 2A82, 2A9A, 2A9B, P0016, or P0017, these replacement oil control VVT valve variable timing solenoid will fix your problem and restore your vehicle's driveability.
Engine codes frequently associated with VANOS solenoid issues are:
- P1520: Camshaft position actuator, exhaust.
- P1523: Camshaft position actuator is jammed, exhaust.
- P1397: Camshaft position sensor B.
- 2A82: VANOS intake solenoid
- 2A87: VANOS exhaust solenoid
Common symptoms of VANOS issues are
- Check Engine Light
- Loss of Power
- Rough Idle, engine hesitation
- Engine falling into limp mode
- Reduced gas mileage
EASY TO REPLACE
- STEP 1 - Unscrew the oil cover, remove the engine trim cover, and then cover the oil cover.
- STEP 2 - In the spark plug next to the two buttons, the gray for the intake solenoid valve, the other one is the exhaust solenoid valve. Use a screwdriver to pry open the gray plastic sheet.
- STEP 3 - Open the plastic sheet, unplug the plug, take out the damaged solenoid valve, and then put on a new solenoid valve.
- STEP 4 - twist the sleeve, plug the plug, and cover the gray plastic sheet.

They fit and work. I’ve had them for 31000km and they still work. I should problem take them out and clean them for that’s required. Also, if you shake them and you hear something making a clicking sound that means they still work right. Good for $70

Thought I was getting a decent part for a good price, I installed these and my car ran worse than ever, while car is on and I unplugged the vanos the car would smooth out, go figure, cheap technology, cheap price , don’t waste your time or mess up your car

not working as it should on my 06 330i. Was throwing CEL as soon as I put those ones, I was better keeping my older ones. These don't seem up to spec, at least for my car.
