I have had three of these for my Glock. After a few years, they show their wear, get smooth where they had texture, etc., and need replacement. When my second grip was a few years old, I removed it to expose the rear-most take down pin so I could remove the pin and completely break down the gun for cleaning. When I re-installed the grip, the trauma was too much for it and the top of the grip stretched out too much and lost its shape. (I suggest that if you get one of these installed correctly and without damage that you do not remove it until you plan to discard it.) I then purchased a third grip which I recently installed. The difficult to read small print directions printed on blue paper state "much force" may be required to install the grip. This is true but at the same time you are warned to be careful because the grip can tear during installation. I heated the grip with a hair dryer as recommended, installed it as per the directions but, in spite of this, the grip sustained a small puncture about 1 1/2" up from the bottom of the grip. I like these grips because of their tactile feel and because they help fill up the hollow in the palm of your hand when you grip the gun. Having said this, I may not purchase them again because of the difficulty to install them. I may contact the manufacturer to see if there is any consideration since I followed the directions and still sustained damage. If this results in anything positive, I'll update this review.Update: The seller, Nimrod's Wares, promptly responded, apologized for the inconvenience and stated the manufacturer, Hogue, will send me a replacement grip next week. I am very impressed with their customer service. I am changing my rating from 4 stars to 5 and will purchase from them again. Additionally, Hogue has provided the below new procedure for installing the grips:"A good way to install the HandALL would be: once taken out of the package, use your two index fingers and stretch out the grip -- not too much because it will tear. Once stretched out a little, you want to use a little bit of Windex and spray it on the inside of the grip and start with putting the front of the grip on first, and stretch a little to latch on to the back. When the grip is in place, you want to slide it up the frame carefully until it is on all the way. Once you have the first part of the grip on the frame, there should not be any issues for the grip tearing."

I followed the instructions and was able to install this grip on my Glock 22 in less that 5 minutes.Just dunk the grip for a minute or so in HOT HOT water, slip the grip over the back of the weapon butt, slip a little over the front of the butt, place the UNLOADED WEAPON upside down on a counter (place a towel down so as not to scratch your weapon), grab both sides of the top of the grip (fingers will be between the weapon handle and the grip) and push down. Make some adjustments by firmly grabbing the muzzle in your weak hand, grasp the handle and grip with your strong hand and squeeze and turn until the grip is where it should be. Make sure the finger grooves line up and the line on the back of the grip lines up with the center of the weapon handle. Also be sure the grip does not interfere with the magazine release functioning (that's bad).Enjoy your new grip.Update: after years of having this grip, like anything, it will break down. Mine had wear from normal use, monthly qualifications, training, etc and I finally replaced it with another identical grip. I am a police officer and like any PO should do, I regularly inspect my weapon, the mechanism, it’s functionality and add on equipment. Every now and then, I notice this grip rides up and could potentially interfere with the mag release button, but it’s never moved enough between inspections for this to be an issue for me. This grip is outstanding and it’s painful to see reviews where because of someone’s laziness and not taking the time to regularly inspect his/her gear, somehow this grip is at fault. Make no mistake, this grip simply slides onto the gun and MAY move over time, but this has never been an issue with my service Glock 22 (.40 cal).If you are considering this grip, get it, it makes for a very comfortable service weapon.

The grips are made of rubber and have a very good feel to them. I thought that these grips would not be of good quality based on the retail price, but it turns out they are made quite well. They are easy to put on and do not tear as you put them on like some people have said. I put the grips on my Smith & Wesson SD40 VE and the grip fit just fine and are tight. Some reviewers mentioned that they had issues with theirs and that they had to trim off a piece at the bottom to make it fit and not interfere when inserting a magazine. I did not have this issue. I know that some might ask "Well why would you buy a pistol without finger grips? Why not just buy a Glock since it already has them?" My answer to this is 1. I love Smith and Wesson. 2. If I can buy a pistol that is just as good as a Glock if not better and sells for less, I am going for it. I simply purchased the grips because I like how my gun looks with them and not necessarily because it needs them. The SD40 VE is a great gun and recoil without the grips is not that bad at all. The grips however do minimize the recoil noticeably without affecting performance. I would recommend them for people with smaller hands or for your wife. Overall I recommend these grips either to minimize recoil and maximize grip, or just want to give your pistol a different look like I did. For the price and quality, I am giving them a 5.
