This piece was under warranty for me, so, I called one of the approved installers to come and replace it (I don't remember the name of the company). They knew nothing of the warranty, told me they could replace it for five times what this unit cost, and still charged me 100 bucks for the visit. I wasn't about to let them change it if it was under warranty. I sent the service guy on his way and tried to see if any other local companies can give me a price--which the wouldn't, of course. They promised nothing over the phone (understandably), but offered to send someone out to look at it for a non-refundable fee. I was told that I wasn't able to purchase the piece myself since I wasn't a licensed installer and I figured the item was a few hundred dollars anyway. So I suffered through the winter with just one controller downstairs heating/cooling the whole house. Six months later, I got fed up and tried to diagnose the EIM myself. I did a Google search and STUMBLED upon EIMs for sale, and it was under $100! I purchased it thinking worse case scenario, I install it and call John Moore to come out and get it all working. However, after I got it all hooked up, I restarted the system a couple times and it worked!!! I believe this part saved me money and a ton of frustration.

I had a system in our other house that controlled the environment in the home perfectly every day of the year. We did not have this ability in this home and now we have an even better solution in most regards. The Honeywell THM5421R1021 IAQ equipment interface connects the (heat pump, two stage furnace, humidifier and dehumidifier) equipment right at the furnace. Then two wires run up to the thermostat, 5 minutes of setup and it manages the temperature withing two degrees between summer and winter and it controls the humidity in the house between 38-42% which is very comfortable every day of the year. Once it is set up we forget about it in as much as it provides us with outdoor temperature and humidity as well. Perfect!

Wish other thermostats (ahem, Nest) offered secure WIRELESS control of their systems. Only had five wires from furnace to thermostat, but dual-fuel heat pump (upgraded from initial build) needed six. Previous Honeywell thermostat utilized a 3-wire interface to overcome this, but have since been discontinued. This interface mounts in furnace closet and can control complex systems complete with sensor inputs. Must use with compatible Honeywell thermostat, but then allows wireless mounting of thermostat (with batteries) anywhere. If you want it to power your thermostat, it has the red/blue power outputs, which only requires two wires running to thermostat location.

Works great in my redlink setup to use an additional indoor sensor! Honeywell parts are confusing, make sure you order the right module for your setup.

It's been ordered by mistake, it cannot be used as replacement for THM5421C, you need Vision Pro thermostat and RedLink wireless accessories. I don't know if I can return it, I need 3 wires THM5421C for my thermostat TH9421C1004 and Panel HE322.

I installed the THM5421R1021 module with the TH8321R1001 Vision pro 8000 thermostat as a replacement for a Vision Pro IAQ thermostat and module that had stopped working. It is running a heat pump with an auxiliary gas furnace, humidifier, and a wired outdoor temperature sensor. The old IAQ thermostat was wired using only three wires so this was a good solution to make an easy replacement. I wired the 8000 with just the 2 power wires and used the RedLINK function for communicating wirelessly between the thermostat and the module. (The IAQ was wired using 2 power wires and 1 data wire.)Installation was fairly easy. Mounted the back plate and hooked up the 2 power wires to the thermostat. I took pictures of the wiring on the old module and basically hooked up the THM5421R1021 the same way. The manual was helpful in clarifying the small differences between the wiring of the 2 modules. The main difference was that I didn't use the single data wire that was required for the old thermostat.Initiating the communication between the module and the thermostat was simple and worked right away. The installer setup was relatively easy compared to the IAQ thermostat. (I wrote down all the installer settings in the old thermostat so I could make sure to setup my heat pump parameters the same as they were.) The functions on the 8000 are basically the same as my old IAQ with a slightly different user interface, maybe a little more user friendly. Programmed the schedule and everything is working as it was before.I initially had a hard time finding a good replacement for the Vision Pro IAQ due to the 3 wires I had to work with on the thermostat. This was an easy replacement and an upgrade in my opinion if you consider the possible auxiliary components that can be hard wired or wirelessly connected to the module in the future.

Product difficult to install and program. Not a typical DIY project. I needed to get installer privileges on my thermostats to properly install.

It was fairly easy to install for anyone that takes a little time to read the less than wonderful directions. Installation is clearly designed for the HVAC professional. Has worked very well. Be careful of wires you attach that may have nearly undetectable breaks. Overall a very good product.

When I moved into this house The original Thermostat was a very old Mercury style Stat. I wanted to upgrade to a programmable thermostat but I did not want to have to pull new thermostat wire, since The original Stat was mounted in a poor location.This module allowed me to run my new visionpro thermostat wireless. The module is powered from your furnace/AC transformer, and the thermostat is able to run off of 2 AA batteries. I have been running this setup for over a year with no problems. Highly recommend to anyone that doesn't want to run new thermostat wire.This would be very useful to anyone in the above situation, or someone that is looking to Add A/C to a home that previously only had heat and the thermostat wire that was run does not have a cooling wire.12/11/18 4 years later this thing is still working great, no issues
