This says it is for standard 20lb BBQ propane tanks, but I had a hard time getting it to thread on correctly, to the point where I was almost sure it wasn't the right threads. After a few more tries, I was able to get it to thread on, but it still felt like the threads were very tight. I was barely able to get it tight enough to depress the safety valve. Seems to seal ok. Haven't noticed any leaks.

This propane adapter gives you the most options if you want to reconfigure in the future. Most hoses with the QCC1 adapter have regulators which are crimped. The old pol adapters have fittings that go to flare, but if you want something with the new QCC1 fitting, going to 1/4 NPT is your best option. This allows you to make your own configuration and makes it easily serviceable. The problem is that the hex bolt is on the inside of the knob, which makes it nearly impossible to prevent one side from swiveling as you tighten on the NPT side. Most people (including myself) will try to secure to tank then tighten hose or regulator to the NPT side of the adapter. This leads to leaking. The right way to do this is to use a 18mm deep hex socket and secure 1/4 NPT fitting to the adapter before you connect the tank. It can be either impact or non-impact rated socket. Both have enough clearance inside the knob to catch the hex bolt and not touch the mating side of the adapter. This will allow you to easily tighten your 1/4 NPT fitting.
