I got this as an external drive. It does work for that. However, it is designed as an add-on for a desktop tower. To that end the cords are not that long. Again; as a external drive is does the job, & well. but the cord length does limit the way you use it.

Need to be a longer USB expansion cable before I can hook it up. Don’t know how it works yet because the cord is not long enough.
