Instead of receiving a Z420, I got a Z440 (an unintended upgrade?). However, there was no combination memory card reader as shown in the product photo and the video card was an Nvidia Quatro FX 4800 (1.5 gb) instead of the Nvidia Quadro 4000 (2gb) — not enough for the Photoshop and video work I do. I recommend that the seller use a checklist to make sure they have the right unit and that it's configured as described on the Amazon page. I contacted the seller about these issues and got a prompt and courteous response. While the card reader wasn't mentioned, they offered to replace the video card at no cost. The problem is that I would need to send the current video card to them, after which they would send me the correct card. This is a fair and reasonable solution. However, the computer would be down until this process is completed — perhaps up to a week. Unfortunately, my work requires that I could not have the computer down for more than one day. Thus, I'm need to buy a replacement video card (as long as I'm at it, a 3gb verion or better). Also, there was no mention of the absence of the multiple memory card reader about which I inquired. As far as the computer being refurbished, there are a few small blemishes, but I can't see them unless I get close to the machine. It basically looks like new. And other than the issues mentioned here, I'm very satisfied with the unit and the customer service response and disappointed that it wasn't configured correctly in the first place.

This computer is fast and came with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Great value for the price. I'm actually wanting to buy another one for myself. This one was for my wife but I need one. :)

Died after only 7 months! Manufacturer warranty expired after 3 months, so Amazon Seller - Aventis Systems refused to provide customer service because it wasn't "under warranty." I can understand not replacing items that aren't covered under warranty, but their company policy is to not even help their customers. The guy on the phone then told me that Amazon might remove my negative review because my warranty expired, and I believe trying to influence reviews is against Amazon policy as well. Failed at every level. Regretful purchase.

I purchased this to replace my old AMD media streaming machine, which has become a little long in the tooth if you know what I mean. Anyway, this thing rocks! Have it set up now as a tri-boot, so that I can use it for streaming and for lab work, so it came with Windows 10 Pro. I added Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 Pro, as we have all three at my job and I design solutions for those environments. Couldn't be happier. Plan on picking up a dual Xeon workstation to replace my audio machine that I use for recording music.

After initial boot problems and a quick replacement, computer runs great. Any machine bigger than 1 TB needs a up to date operating system. Windows 10 for sure but, Microsoft should upgrade the OS because bigger hard drives are becoming standard. This machine, with 8 core processor and 64 GB of RAM, works great.. If your going to buy, use the latest OS. Love it!!!

Be aware that the advertised "up to 3.3GHz CPU" is the overclocked speed. The pre-set CPU limit is 2.5GHZ.It's been years since i last overclocked a machine. If anyone's overclocked one of these, i'd like to hear about it. (And did it need additional cooling/fans?)When it arrived, the video card had almost fallen out and a metal bay cover was rattling around completely unattached inside the case. (Thus far it doesn't seem, as though the loose metal damaged any interior components during shipping)I think the video card was missing a mounting clip on one side and i did an improvised repair to keep it in position. (i'll post pics later if i have time.)Other than those glitches, it seems to be as advertised. And if those are the only things wrong with it, its still probably a good workhorse for the price!EDIT- On Christmas, the computer completely bricked. The fans spun up normally on start, but ZERO signal to the screen.I did all the usual diagnostics. Shut it down. Restarted it. Checked all the cables. unplugged it and plugged it back in again. Still no signal to the screen at all.Based on experience with previous machines, i thought it might be bad RAM, so i pulled most of the ram. And it started up just fine on two sticks! Then i shut down, and gradually reinstalled the RAM, looking for the bad stick. But it still ran fine after i put all the ram back in.So i don't know what's wrong... or whether it will fail again soon in a more definitive manner!(if it's not intermittently bad ram, my second guess would be glitchy graphics card.)

I was considering building a system from scratch, but after looking at this one I ordered it. It is a solid workstation and I could not be happier with it. I was impressed that it looked like new. The only noticeable wear was the windows sticker and hp sticker, but both were still easy to read. I was more interested in the hardware anyway since the first thing I did was load CentOS on for my OS. I was up and fully operational in less than an hour.
