I have brick paths laid around my house, and this bricklayer's hammer will come in handy for extending or refurbishing the brick paths, but it also comes in handy for a variety of other purposes.I enjoy rock and fossil hunting, and this hammer is useful for breaking down rocks. It also is handy for driving stakes in the ground in my vegetable garden, hammering concrete, scraping dried cement, and for many general use purposes in my workshop. This hammer is well made with a comfortable handle.Even if you have no intention to work with bricks, this hammer is a useful tool to have on hand, and I recommend it for a wide variety of uses.

The hammer head is well-crafted with high-quality steel, making it a great tool. However, the handle falls short, being 2-3 inches shorter than a standard bricklayers hammer and featuring a turned design that may not feel comfortable when using the tool for extended periods. Many users may find it more practical to have a traditional handle design for better functionality. As a result, replacing the handle is recommended to make the tool more useful for most people. While the hammer head deserves 5 stars, the handle only merits 1 star.Considering the need for potential handle replacement, it is difficult to recommend this product at its current price point.Final thought? It makes a much better gardening tool than a bricklayer tool.

At first when I picked up this hammer, I didn't like the balance and feel. The balance point is right under the head and the handle contributes very little weight. Others have mentioned that the round handle makes it hard to orient the hammer in your hand by feel. I tended to agree but then I tried it out on some limestone. With the high balance point, I can choke up on the handle and still swing it with the hammer feeling like it's still out in front of my hand. The head has a little more heft compared to another rock hammer that I have and I found that the greater head weight with a shorter hold on the handle resulted in better control while still delivering an effective blow. I felt comfortable holding it with my thumb and first finger at the ring that's turned on the handle for fine control or down at the end for harder hitting. The wide and sharp chisel head made chipping knobs off of stones feel easier to me. Despite my first impressions, I have grown to like this hammer and appreciate having it.

The metal way too heavy for a hammer and handle lacks support, heft and on top of that short handle for such disproportionate cheap metal.

This Hultafors bricklayer's hammer is a serious tool for serious work. The first thing that struck me (pun intended!) was the weight – it's got a satisfying heft that feels perfect for driving nails and tackling tough demo projects. The hand-forged head is a thing of beauty, with a smooth striking face and a sharp chisel edge that could chip away at a castle wall. But it's not just about brute force. The hickory shaft is the perfect blend of sturdiness and shock absorption, soaking up the blowback and protecting your forearms. The grip is comfortable, even after hours of swinging, and the nail pull notch is a lifesaver for those stubborn, embedded nails.I've used this hammer for everything from framing walls to redoing my patio, and it's handled it all with ease. It's definitely not a cheap tool, but the quality and craftsmanship are undeniable. If you're a serious DIYer or a professional who needs a top-notch hammer, this Hultafors is worth every penny.

In the Wintertime my front steps get coated with ice on occasion. The gutter above them overflows and I get hanging icicles and a coating of ice on my concrete steps right outside the door. This is perfect to crack the ice or knock down the ice shards hanging over my head. The design makes it easier to break the ice without risking damage to my concrete. I had a small sledgehammer to do it before, but it was hard to control, and risked cracking the concrete.Come this Spring when the snow and ice are history for this year, I'm going to use this to chop out the cracked concrete damaged by weeds growing in my driveway. I neglected using a good weed killer last year and I have some badly damaged areas that need patched. I'm going to use this to chip the loose stuff away and put in some concrete repair patch before the weeds take hold this year. This is light by comparison to a large hammer and has a nice edge to do what I need or could do some garden tilling or sod notching to do yardwork repair. For a small hand tool, a bit on the expensive side, but quality made and easy to handle. Recommended.

I am a member of the Amazon Vine program. I order new items, and then write honest, unbiased reviews of that product, along with my impressions and experiences. I am not paid for these reviews. This Hultafors Tools 822251U Bricklayer's Hammer is a fine example of the way hand tools used to be made. It is perfectly designed for the un-glamorous job of chipping away brick or block to create the size and shape you might need to fit that exact spot in your project. It is created of good steel and good hardwood, well finished, well assembled, and likely to last me a lifetime with a little bit of care on my part. The handle MIGHT just be birch, with close, fine grained wood, well shaped, well sanded and well finished. It balances well in my hand and is very comfortable to hold. I recommend it!

Beautiful old world brick hammer with modern materials. The wide chisel works better then any other brick hammer iv ever used. The hickory handle is well hung through the eye of the head. Handle is outstanding and forces your hand it the perfect position for a perfect strike.
