I like this item overall, it feels very well made, the surfaces which lock things in place, like the thumb twisting knobs all feel very easy to turn and seem to have mating surfaces which allow things to be held fast without any risk of them loosening up on their own. I think this is very usable not only for rifle work but also just as a general camera/binocular really any optic mounting solution. I like that it has a circular bubble level, which to me is much more usable for this kind of item than the typical stick kind that only cover one axis, it's also cool that it gives you 360 degrees indicator marks on the bottom. Pricing also feels very reasonable at $26 dollars.

I own a lot of different ball heads at all price points. For as inexpensive as this one is, the build quality is surprising. Everything is made of solid aluminum, including the knobs. The pan axis is dampened to smooth out panning motion. The ball lock lever is oversized and allows for a solid grip to really tighten down the ball. The base has a standard 3/8" female thread with a removable 1/4-20 reducer bushing. The only downside is that this ball head is tiny. It fits in the palm of my hand. I ordered it to use with video gear but I would only be comfortable using it with an action cam or small mirrorless camera. It's too small for even a pro-level DSLR. However, this is my fault, not the manufacturer. This is a really good option if you just need a small ball head.

While I appreciate expensive gear, I appreciate it even more when I find a piece of gear on a budget that not only does the job, but surprises me as well. This is one of those cases. I needed a ball head simply to hold an optic on a “Tac Plate” that I built. If I can build it myself and save some money without sacrificing functionality, then I’m always happy when I’m using that thing. This little ball head is very well made for the price and perfect for my intended use case. I see guys using absurdly expensive ball heads from companies like Really Right Stuff just to hold an optic. If I needed to hold a rifle I might spring for something like that. However, for a simple project like this, I’m extremely impressed with this little piece of kit. It’s precisely machined, controls all function smoothly, and the fit and finish are on par with far more expensive units. You occasionally end up with substandard stuff when going this route and that’s to be expected. This is not one of those cases and if you are looking to build out something similar, save yourself a bit of money and just order one of these. You can thank me later.

Works great. It’s got some decent hold as well. I’d been looking for a quick swivel for a while and this one finally hit the bill. I wish it came with adapters for ¼ and ⅜”. It’s got a removable base so you can detach the plate from the swivel. The swivel is tight and holds well. The yaw works really smoothly. You can lock all directions for a confident shot. Definitely recommend.

I've seen lot's of tripod heads and lots of ball heads in my 50 years of professional photography.I always gravitated to gear heads but ball heads are good, too. This HUNTPAL 28mm ball head is the real thing. It is well built out of good materials. It locks well and is smooth in operation. You can set the lock pressure so that the ball stays in place but you can still move it when and where you want to. You can lock it up tight and the ball won't budge. This one is relatively small and should be used for holding smaller things. HUNTPAL has a big brother 36mm version that would be my first choice for a DSLR or rifle.
