Seems like pleather. When I inserted the notebook into the cover, the band that holds the notebook came undone. The stitching let go. Unusable now unless I want to stitch it back together.

Great product. Using it outdoors to take notes for various work projects. Protects the inner notebook from rain, dirt, wrinkling and so forth. FYI....does not come with a notebook. This has to be purchased separatley.

Ridiculously small, does not fit a notebook cannot be returned, I would have ranked it a 0 but that wasn’t an option …. DO NOT BUY! Really disappointed

This little wallet-journal cover has been with me everywhere I go since I purchased it over a year ago. After the first month I ordered another 2-pack just in case it ever wears out, but there's not even the slightest hint of that happening yet. I initially thought the strap for holding the notebook in place was going to be too tight, but it turns out some memo books are just a tad larger than others. Luckily, the books readily available at an infamous big-box store in every town across the globe for 30 cents seem to fit just fine, with the added bonus of, by some miracle, being fountain pen friendly. So I carry this thing I call my "wallet journal" everywhere, along with the excellent Kaweco Sport pocket fountain pen. In the little inside front pocket, I store a credit card, debit card, driver's license and two insurance cards, no problem at all. Rarely do I even bother to write a review (maybe for 1 out of every 20 purchases here) but I had to write this one, for the simple fact that I have reached a point where I would actually feel lost and hollow if I left the house without this setup. It had become just that essential. I have read other reviews that say they received some sort of nylon cloth product, but mine is real stitched leather with the rough hide exposed on the interior of the cover, and has become nice and supple while retaining full durability. Cheesy though it may be, I'd have to use the clichéd phrase "part of me" when describing this product a year+ on.

Even in a day of electronic devices that can store vast amounts of information, I like to keep notepads on my person to be able to jot down a quick idea or an important reminder. I found, however, that if I just shoved a pocket-sized notebook in my pocket, it wasn't long before the card stock or plastic cover ripped off of the spiral binding, and was then followed by the first and last few pages. So I got these covers. I no longer lose pages or covers from my notebooks. All the stress of being jammed in a pocket is sustained and endured by the leather case, and the notepads are fine inside. Now there is no zipper or closure or anything to protect your notepad. If you happen to have one of these in your pocket on a sweltering day during a rainstorm in Bangladesh, for example, your notepad is going to get trashed from all the moisture. But if all you're worried about is wear and tear destroying the notepad in your pocket, these little cases will solve that problem for you nicely.

Holds a spiral memo pad nice and snug, but that's where it ends. Other buyers pictures show a much nicer cover than what I recieved. It's thin, poorly stitched and the inside is really shaggy where the leather was fleshed out . I was expecting a little more of a suede on the inside as I have a similar leather cover, but it won't fit a spiral notepad. Oh well, at least it didn't cost much and I'll get some use out of it, just wish it looked better.

I was initially concerned because a couple of the reviews implied that it was difficult to insert a spiral 3 by 5 notebook. As it happens, some 3 by 5 notebooks do have a wider back than others. A generic version of a 3 by 5 spiral notebook (no maker name that I can find) that we have kicking around my office did indeed need trimming. But the Staples brand fits fine. A little tight, but that's actually a good thing in that the notebook does not slide around in the cover. Another review expressed concern that the cover was only slightly bigger than the notebook. That again is true, but for me, with limited pocket space, that is a plus. My primary reason for using a memo book cover is to be able to keep a notebook in my back pocket, withdraw it maybe 30 times a day, and not have the notebook disintegrate. Not having the spiral rings dig into me or into the back of my car seat is also a plus. This product serves the purpose and appears very well-made.

My husband has been using this inexpensive and sturdy cover for more than a year now to protect his Rite in the Rain spiral notebooks. He carries the notebook daily in his back or front pants pockets, and the notebook is subject to a lot of bending and crushing. The cover does a great job protecting the notebook, and is sized well for the purpose. I recently examined the cover and noticed it has softened up considerably and is developing some character like a worn wallet. But the leather is quite thick, and it looks like the cover will last many more years. It's not fancy, but it's very functional.

I own 4 of these, 2 of the plain, and 2 of the basketweave design, which I keep in various locations for quick note taking. The construction is well done, very sturdy, all genuine leather that smells great. Most of the carboard backings on 3x5 memo pads need to be slightly tapered with scissors to fit into the holding band, but this is a process that takes all of 15 seconds and insures a very secure fit. I use both the gum topped and spiral topped pads in this cover, and they perform wonderfully. The cover keeps pages protected, and gives them enough support to prevent dog-earring of the corners. There's a handy pocket inside for storing loose papers. Overall, a great notebook cover for general use. Very practical, sturdy, and nice to hold.

I use 3x5" top bound notebooks, aka note pads, for several purposes. One is with me at all times. In a pocket if dressed, on the night stand if not. It used to be that the pads wore out by mechanical wear on the spiral binding, perforations in the cover, or generally overall trashiness.I got the pad holder to extend the life (reduce the cost) of notepads. It works wonderfully, much better than I expected. When shirt pockets are too tight, I now put the protected pad in a hip pocket. Works fine. I don't know how long the current note pad will last in the cover ... I've never had one last this long before.Tiny item, cheap, but makes my life a little bit easier.
