This is a HUD. It’s very bright if you want it to be. Nice thing you can turn off everything but the numbers so it isn't so bright. good deal on a HUD or as a gps speedometer if needed. good find. There are others that also do trip mileage but this one is strictly a digital gps speedometer but honestly the compass is nice just maybe a bit bright.

It's supposed to adjust the brightness on it's own but I find myself having to adjust it myself. The settings are weird though. 0 is brighter than 1, then it goes up in brightness from there. The speed was a little off but I used the gps on my phone as a baseline and adjusted the percentage in the settings till it was correct. Compass works as it should.
